Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 7/12/25
We are 25 years into the 21st century, so most NFL teams have been in some big games (if not all the teams) but some teams get to experience bigger games more than others, and the Los Angeles Rams (or St. Louis Rams) have been in some big games!
You can read about some of the big Rams games below and you can see a link to a fuller list below that.

Rams played in 3 of the best 25 games since 2000 (ramswire)
“The Rams were a big favorite in Super Bowl XXXVI, but a great defensive plan from Belichick kept them in the game. Then, at the end, a young Brady drove New England into position for Adam Vinatieri to hit a game-winning field goal as time expired.
On the divisional round loss to the Panthers:
The Rams came close to a few more Super Bowl titles early in the century. They were upset in the 2003 divisional round game at home when Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme hit Steve Smith for a 69-yard touchdown in double overtime. The Rams won a wild-card game the next postseason, then didn’t win another playoff game for 14 years.
However, the highest-ranked Rams game was, perhaps, the peak of the Sean McVay offense when L.A. took down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a regular-season shootout in 2018.”

For a long stretch of the 1970s and 1980s and even most of the 1990s, there weren’t many great Super Bowls. That has changed.

Countdown to Camp: Experience has Rams well-positioned at quarterback in NFC and NFL (therams.com)
“Meanwhile, the Rams kept that experience theme going re-signing veteran Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year deal to return as Stafford’s backup. Los Angeles’ top two passers combine for the following:
27 seasons’ worth of experience (Stafford 16, Garoppolo 11)
304 career games played (Stafford 222, Garoppolo 82)
286 career starts (Stafford 222, Garoppolo 64)
Garoppolo completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in his lone appearance last season. Even as a backup, he enjoyed his first season with the Rams so much he wanted to remain in Los Angeles and in that role rather than explore starting opportunities elsewhere.”
