Safety has been connected to Raiders this offseason

The Las Vegas Raiders could still use some help in the secondary, including at the safety position.

One of the players they have been connected to is free-agent Justin Simmons It appears if it were up to many Las Vegas fans, the Raiders would sign Simmons to add him to the mix.

We recently asked our community members if they would like to see the Raiders sign Simmons.

In a poll with more than 400 votes cast, 65 percent of the voters want to see the Raiders bring in Simmons, while 35 percent don’t think the Raiders need him.

I fully understand the fan interest in the Raiders bringing in Simmons. He’s a solid pro and, at this point, he’d likely come pretty cheaply and the tema could use the depth. So, yes, it makes sense.

Simmons is an accomplished cover safety, Chin and IPM seem more like box guys. Unless they are seeing development from the bench guys, Simmons seems like a huge need.

Simmons is a ball hawk who suits up every week, a pro’s pro. Never had fewer than two interceptions in a season. Rarely misses more than a game or two. Could help show our young guys how to be pros.
He made $7.5 mil last year so we might be able to sign him for 5 or 6, a fraction of what Moehrig got.

Simmons, IPM & Chinn is not a bad big nickel trio. Has to be at the right price maybe $5 million for 1 year.
