New York Giants headlines for Friday

Good morning, New York Giants fans!

From Big Blue View

Other Giant observations

Giants’ Jalin Hyatt on muscle gain: ‘That’s what darkness does to you’ | USAToday.com

“I played at 171 last year,” Hyatt said on the Giants Huddle Podcast. “I’m about 194-195 now. I’m telling you, that’s what darkness does to you. It changes you. The speed will stay there. For me, it’s just learning to run at this weight; learning to play faster, play bigger, and play stronger through contact. . . Just had to get stronger.”

Odell Beckham Jr.’s last ride? Best fits for veteran WR as ex-Giants star hints at possible reunion | CBSSports.com

Besides Beckham and a handful of current Giants teasing the possibility of a reunion tour, this actually makes some sense. “OBJ” is still a fan favorite among contingents of Giants faithful for the spunky playmaking that made him an NFL phenom at the start of his career. And some added receiver depth couldn’t hurt behind returning starters Nabers and Darius Slayton. If coach Brian Daboll is trying to squeeze what he can out of Russell Wilson before turning to Jaxson Dart under center, Beckham registers as a decent low-risk gamble to give New York another set of proven hands off the bench.

Proposing one final offseason move for all 32 NFL teams | ESPN.com

Trade edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. Yes, New York can use an edge rusher rotation and get plenty of value out of him. It can create a NASCAR-style package where one of its edge rushers moves inside on third down. But the Giants can also trade Thibodeaux to a contender that needs help on the edge, such as the Packers or the Lions, and probably get a Day 2 pick in return. More draft capital would be a huge help for 2026 when they’ll be trying to find as many strong offensive players as possible to build around quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Hypothetical 3-Team Trades That Would Turn NFL Upside Down Before 2025 Season | Bleacher Report

Dolphins Get: Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux; Cardinals Get: WR Tyreek Hill; Giants Get: OT Jonah Williams. Arizona would have to send a proven blocker to the New York Giants to make a deal happen in this scenario. They have suffered through multiple false starts trying to rebuild their offensive line. Despite multiple high investments in the position group, it’s still not quite where it should be. Williams has the potential to slide into right tackle and complete the fivesome.

New York Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux Back In Oregon, Training With Matayo Uiagalelei | SI.com

Looking to improve off a 2024 season, former Oregon Ducks defensive end and current New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux posted a video of himself working out on the field of Autzen Stadium with Ducks star defender Matayo Uiagalelei.

Six offseason Giants standouts: How Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart have rejuvenated QB room | The Athletic

Belton’s knack for finding the ball has continued this offseason with the safety grabbing an interception in one practice and nearly getting another the following week. He closed out the spring strongly with yet another interception on the final day of minicamp when he nabbed a deep Dart pass that was deflected by Art Green.

While Jevon Holland and Tyler Nubin are the starting safeties, Belton has worked with the top unit this spring. He’s also been used in a dime package during practice.

2025 NFL linebacker unit rankings: Eagles, Patriots carry elite units | PFF.com

19. New York Giants. New York’s linebackers should have plenty of space to work with behind their potentially stellar defensive line. The headliner is veteran Bobby Okereke, whose 81.3 PFF overall grade over the past two seasons ranks 10th among qualified linebackers.

Micah McFadden struggles a bit in coverage but has posted at least a 66.0 PFF run-defense grade in each of the past two years. Darius Muasau also recorded a solid 68.1 PFF run-defense grade as a rookie last season and would likely be the next man up if anything happened to Okereke or McFadden.

Ranking all 32 NFL teams’ quarterback outlook for the next 5 years | Windy City Gridiron

23. New York Giants- Jaxson Dart (22). Dart was a climber in this year’s draft, and he seems to be embracing New York well, which not all prospects do. Dart has good arm talent, but can he put it all together and become a quality quarterback? That’s a pretty big question mark, but the unknown gives him the nod here.

2025 NFL head coach hot seat rankings: These coaches must deliver successful seasons — or risk getting fired | CBSSports.com

1. Brian Daboll No coach has a hotter seat entering 2025 than Brian Daboll in New York. In the three years he’s been on the job, the Giants are 18-32-1, and they’re coming off a 3-14 season last year. At the end of the 2024 campaign, it felt like Daboll may be on the brink of getting the axe, but ownership decided to give him and general manager Joe Schoen another shot in 2025.

Before the Week 14 bye, seven of their first 12 opponents are all coming off playoff appearances last year — and the non-playoff teams are the Cowboys (road), Saints (road), 49ers (home), Bears (road) and Patriots (road). It’s hard to imagine New York putting together anything close to a .500 record, which would put Daboll at serious risk of an in-season firing. Prediction: Fired
