“Abusive language.”
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was handed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the fourth quarter of the Bengals’ 26-25 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he may not be done paying for it yet.
Referee Alex Kemp cited “abusive language” as the reason Chase was fined for his outburst after he wanted a flag for a hip drop tackle but didn’t get it. Even as Joe Burrow tried to restrain him, Chase continued to berate the official, ultimately drawing the penalty.
Per Tom Pelissero, Chase will likely be fined by the NFL for the incident, as well.

It has been a tough start to the season for Chase. After he and the team failed to come to terms on a contract extension, Chase has only caught 10 passes for 97 yards and hasn’t found the end zone yet.
If the fine comes down from the league offices, we will likely see it issued midweek.
Chase will look to get back on track next week when the Bengals take on the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
