Giants OTA takeaways: No battle between Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart; Abdul Carter a ‘beast’ | The Athletic
The offense has operated at a high tempo all spring. That was the case again Tuesday, which was more of a game-like setting. In addition to the extended unscripted final period of practice, penalties were enforced and obvious sacks were blown dead. All the coaches wore headsets, with offensive coordinator Mike Kafka again calling the plays via a walkie-talkie.
Dart, Winston discuss learning a new playbook
On the @Giants Huddle podcast we started our player interview series with the QB’s. I spoke to @JaxsonDart and @Jaboowins about learning the offense and more.

Jameis Winston: Quest to prove he’s not all sideshow as NY Giants quarterback | The Record
“You know, my brother asked me, ‘Everybody always talks about the jokes and how funny you are, but don’t you ever want to prove how good you are, that you could be The Man,’” Winston told me. “And I just told him, I said I’m confident in what I have done and what I can do on the football field. But for me, at the end of the day, you’ve got to make the most of what the game gives you, and that’s why I’m here.”
Maybe Russell Wilson is exactly what the Giants needed — now and for their future | Politi | nj.com
And so, with that important disclaimer in mind, I offer a bit of springtime optimism for your consideration after watching the team’s OTA on Tuesday: What if Russell Wilson is … good?
If Wilson is something approaching good, maybe the Giants can scratch out a few early wins against their brutal schedule. Maybe an improved defense — and, with the way top draft pick Abdul Carter has looked rushing the passer so far, there is real hope that unit will be more than merely good — will keep the team in contention longer than anyone expects.
Russell Wilson: Offseason program with Giants has “been a joy” | Pro Football Talk
“Man, it’s been a joy,” Wilson said when asked to describe the spring for him personally. “I think if I had to describe it, just the joy to be able to do what I love to do, No. 1 — and No. 2, to do it with the people that you really want to be around. I think that obviously the players, just the amount of guys — I remember going to Atlanta throwing with the guys, or going to San Diego, throwing with the guys. And also, too, just being here and the extra time that we’ve put in watching film, doing all the necessary things to be great. I think that’s been the joy of it, man. That’s why you love the game, the obsession of it all. That’s the good part. And I think the other part to it all, I think the coaching staff is tremendous. I think their ability to teach every day.”
2025 NFL running back unit rankings: Derrick Henry spearheads Ravens’ top-ranked group | PFF
31. New York Giants. Giants running backs ranked 30th in the NFL in PFF rushing grade last season, yet the team brought its two leading ball carriers back for another season.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. displayed flashes with three 100-yard games, but he slowed down late in the season and eventually earned a mediocre 69.6 PFF rushing grade. Devin Singletary was a bit less efficient and generated just 10 explosive runs out of 113 carries. Perhaps fourth-round rookie Cam Skattebo can provide a jolt after leading all Power Four running backs with a 93.3 PFF overall grade last season while at Arizona State.
Ex-NFL head doctor: Giants’ Malik Nabers not practicing a red flag | USAToday.com
“I would (be concerned),” said Dr. David J. Chao, an orthopedic surgeon who spent 17 years as an NFL doctor. “I would because if you’re not on the field in June, you haven’t played football in five-plus months. You’ve only got two months before real football is being played. If you’re not ready in five months, what’s two more months gonna do, right?
“And he’s a speed/quickness/in-and-out-of-routes guy, you know he’s going to need his big toe for that. And apparently that was from a college injury that’s lingered or come up again, so now the word ‘chronic’ comes into play. So, yeah, I do have some worries for Malik Nabers.”
The mindset of both lines according to Jermaine Eluemunor
“People are sick and tired of not being good. It all starts in the trenches. O-Line, D-Line is where games are really won.”

Observations from the Giants’ spring program: Jaxson Dart flashes, pass rush ceiling, Brian Daboll’s attitude | New York Post
Offseason? What offseason? If ever a description was disingenuous or misleading, it is what has gone on around the NFL in the past two months.
“Voluntary offseason workout program’’ is what it is called, and doesn’t that sound like an easygoing activity a player can dabble with from time to time? In truth, it is serious stuff and the only aspect that is truly voluntary is a team cannot take money from a player for failure to attend.
2025 NFL All-Rookie Team: Projecting 14 instant-impact newcomers on defense/special teams
Edge Abdul Carter. Widely considered the best defensive player in this draft class, Carter is unsurprisingly the favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year. His explosiveness off the edge jumps off the screen, but with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux in place as the incumbent outside linebackers, what’s the plan with the No. 3 overall pick? Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen sees it as “a really good problem to have.” And he’s not wrong: You can never have enough good pass rushers. Carter is undoubtedly one of the best 11 on this defensive roster, and playing alongside Burns, Thibodeaux and DT Dexter Lawrence, the rookie’s poised to get the kind of one-on-one matchups he can feast on.
