Which NFL players will improve in 2025? C.J. Stroud, Deebo Samuel among guaranteed risers | NFL.com
Brian Burns played well in his first season in New York, registering 8.5 sacks, 66 QB pressures and a career-high 71 tackles while forming a solid pass-rushing duo with Dexter Lawrence (nine sacks). But I guarantee the two-time Pro Bowler’s production will vastly increase with Abdul Carter’s arrival. New York’s defensive front was one of the league’s fiercest units a season ago with Burns, Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the charge. Now with Carter joining the fray, which player will opponents double-team? It’s a pick-your-poison situation that won’t be fun for the opposition. Burns will surely face his share of double-teams, but he should regularly feast when presented with one-on-one matchups, leading me to think a double-digit sack and Pro Bowl campaign are on tap for the seventh-year pro.

John Schmeelk: I’m anxious to see what defensive coordinator Shane Bowen ends up doing with the secondary. I interviewed more than 20 members of the defense at Media Day, and all of the returning players expressed how the playbook has been expanded with the influx of talent this offseason. It is easy to imagine the variable fronts Bowen can use with all the defensive linemen and edge rushers, but I am curious to see how he is going to use the secondary.
Star rookies? The best schematic fits from all 32 NFL Draft classes | FOX Sports
New York Giants: Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State (No. 3 overall). Carter is admittedly very low-hanging fruit as the Giants’ biggest rookie contributor, but he has to be included in this article as my current top pick for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Carter is electric off the edge, and he’s joining one of the better defensive lines in the NFL, providing an ideal runway for Carter to vault into superstardom.

Worst-Case Scenario: Dart Gets Forced Into the Lineup Too Early
B/R’s Dame Parson noted in his scouting report that the Ole Miss product struggled to get past his first read quickly. Playing in Lane Kiffin’s simplified offense might mean there’s a learning curve that he has to navigate.
So, while it would be ideal for Dart to see action by the end of the season, it would be ideal for Wilson to play well enough that Daboll has time to get Dart acclimated. If he’s forced into the lineup early, his confidence could take a hit while Malik Nabers grows frustrated and the Giants are again one of the worst offenses in the league.

Why former New York Giants star Osi Umenyiora sees a future for football in Africa | The Athletic
Umenyiora, a two-time Super Bowl winner, is intent on inspiring African athletes to take up American football. What started as a personal passion — he began the NFL-supported African-based scouting program The Uprise in 2020 alongside former Nigeria basketball player Ejike Ugboaja — led to Umenyiora becoming the NFL’s lead ambassador in Africa. Since 2022, he has attended annual camps in Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana and this month heads to Egypt.
