Emmanuel Forbes is a former first round pick, so he must have talent, right? For whatever reason, his skills haven’t yet translated in a big way at the NFL level, but he is still in the NFL, so he must be doing something right.
One thing that Forbes has been doing is adding some weight, which may make him a more formidable defensive back. The Los Angeles Rams may be gambling on whether or not Forbes can contribute to the secondary right away. Time will tell.
Is Emmanuel Forbes the key to the Rams secondary?

Oh, and you Los Angeles Dodgers fans, I think you play some other team from California today, though their name escapes me.
‘I’ve been grinding every single day’: Emmanuel Forbes’ offseason bulk has helped restore confidence (therams.com)
“Forbes didn’t want to give an exact number, but he’s gained “a good bit” of weight since last season by adding muscle all over.
“I feel way stronger, way more explosive and it really has helped my game out a lot,” Forbes said.
“Justin Lovett and his group do such a great job,” McVay said. “Forbes is bulking up, looking good, but I think what’s been awesome is, and we talked about this at the very beginning, having an understanding of what we’re trying to get done.”
Last season, McVay was impressed with Forbes’ intentionality as soon as he entered the building in December. He was always keyed into what the Rams were teaching him and the objective of certain actions, both on and off the field.”

Rams’ Sean McVay Continues to Praise Emerging Defensive Back (si.com)
“McVay recently spoke about Forbes’ growth physically and as a player.
“Yeah, I think he has. (Director of Strength and Conditioning) Justin Lovett and his group do such a great job. Forbes is bulking up, looking good, but I think what’s been awesome is, and we talked about this at the very beginning, having an understanding of what we’re trying to get done. He comes in in the middle of the year, and you could see I really liked his demeanor, I thought he did a good job in the Seattle game when he played last year, but really understanding some of the things that (Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator) Aubrey (Pleasant) is teaching him and how do I apply it in these team settings?”

How Did Rams Not Lose Aubrey Pleasant to Promotion? (si.com)
“Recently, McVay credited Pleasant for helping players open up, describing Pleasant as the man who has been leading the messaging.
“You know what I think’s cool? When you’re going through similar experiences, you’re staying in the hotel, a lot of things are new for guys. There’s that shared experience of understanding what we’re going through. They’re able to lean on one another. What I think’s been great is we’ve really tried to lean into the types of people where there’s different personalities, but there’s still our core values or experiences that these guys have gone through that have tested their mental fortitude, their resilience. A lot of the things that you’ve heard us talk about over the last couple years, I think we’ve really leaned into that and so I think the most important thing is as a team, how do we come together?”
“It’s been exactly what I needed, feeling rejuvenated and really, really enjoying the time with the guys”

Superbowl coaches and the Hall of Fame. (By zerkitty on Jun 11, 2025)
“IN THE HALL OF FAME
Chuck Noll 4-0 / Bill Walsh 3-0 / Joe Gibbs 3-1 These coaches are in because they win Superbowls.
Don Shula 2-2 / Tom Landry 2-3 These coaches know how to get to Superbowls and perform well.
Vince Lombardi 2-0 He’s the OG, ya know, the one whose name is on the trophy.
Tom Flores 2-0 Fair case with that Superbowl record.
Hank Stram 1-1 / Bill Cower 1-1 Not sure why they are in the Hall of Fame. If they belong, I’m not sure why McVay doesn’t.
Bud Grant 0-4 / Marv Levy 0-4 In the Hall of Fame for perseverance and consistency.

SB winning coaches NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME
George Seifert 2-0 / Jimmy Johnson 2-0 / Mike Shanahan 2-0 / Tom Coughlin 2-0 / Bill Parcels 2-1. The difference between these guys and Tom Flores?
Dick Vermeil 1-1 / Mike Holmgren 1-2. Not the best case.
Mike Tomlin 1-1 / Pete Carroll 1-1 / Sean McVay 1-1 / Nick Siriani 1-1. Still at it and working their case.
Dan Reeves 0-4 again, the diffference between Grant, Levy and Reeves?
Bill Belichick 6-1 and Andy Reid 3-3 Cases are made and they are just waiting some date to be inducted.
While thinking about McVay’s case without another SB appearance at minimum I came across a couple of odd things and questions. For one, there sure aren’t many who have been to the big dance more than once. Might anyone have a decent explanation as to why Flores and not the others with 2 wins is in? Some could say Seifert’s team was built for him. Why not Reeves along with Grant and Levy?”
