Your Best Miami Dolphins Trade All Time

Miami Dolphins fans share their choice for the best trade all time.

Tonight, we have the follow-up post to our post from last evening on the worst trade by the Miami Dolphins all time.

What do you believe to be our Miami Dolphins’ best all-time trade and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Jptapt highlights two trades that helped lead to the most successful period for our Miami Dolphins.

For me, best trade was acquiring Nick Buoniconti from the Patriots (1969)

Best claim off waivers would be getting Earl Morrall (1972).

Look what those got us…

Stanley Doyle1 added another name from the glory days.

Paul Warfield in 1970.

Miami7 is another that prefers to throw it back to the Super Bowl championship years.

Buoniconti was probly ‘the best’ trade…but Paul Warfield was ‘my favorite’ trade.

I have 1 NFL jersey – Warfield

He was my favorite player at 11 yrs old when they got him nd he’s still my favorite football player of all time.

And…while not a ‘true trade’…more compensation for tampering (was Ross affiliated in 1970?) the 1st Rd. pick surrendered for THE GREATEST COACH OF ALL-TIME….Don Shula, was the greatest ‘transaction’ in Miami Dolphins history!

sdphinsfan prefers the one from each side of the ball approach.

One Offense, one Defense.

Defense-Buoniconti

Offense-somebody else mentioned Little, so I’ll go with Paul Warfield

Dolphster is keeping the old school trend going, and thank you.

Good article. Buoniconti and Larry Little are the two that come to my mind first.

Snook2006 thinks he’s on the other post, I guess…

I am going to go with the Dolphins trading up to the 3rd overall pick in the draft to get Dion Jordan.

21Dave is rolling with sarcasm.

I am going with the one when we traded Ramsey for 2 , 4th round pick that became HOF’er for the Dolphins and stayed there for 12-15 years!!

RobNJ65 highlights the trade that would make the best of the all-sports all-time best trades list.

Don Shula

Redwood_ highlights the glory days and some newer trades, while pointing out that the trades in the 70s worked out much better than those that might be forgotten due to how the team has performed under that GM.

The best Dolphins trades of all time are all the trades that helped the early 1970s Dolphins, one of the best dynasties in NFL history. The 1993 trade for Irving Fryar and 1995 trade for Trace Armstrong should both be considered, bc both players were very highly productive throughout their multi-year tenures with the Dolphins. From a purely draft capital POV, the 2020 “Tunsil trade” with Houston, and the 2021 “Trey Lance” trade with SF, gave the Dolphins TONS of draft capital, but those trades will not be well remembered by history bc Grier absolutely botched (the nicest way I can put it) most of that draft capital.

Well, those are our comments for this evening. It appears that the consensus is that the trades Shula made in the early 70s clearly earn the title, given the eventual results. Thank you to each of you who reads and comments on our question of the day posts.
