PLUS: We finally know the details of the draft pick!

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the Bryce Huff trade to the San Francisco 49ers that was first reported on Friday, May 30.

The Eagles waited until after June 1 to make the deal (which is still pending a physical) for salary cap purposes. More details from Over The Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald:

The trade […] will result in the Eagles taking on $4.94 million in dead money this year. They will defer $16.6 million to next season. While there is a lot of chatter about the Eagles creating over $15 million in space this year the reality is Huff’s original cap number was just $7.4 million so really the team is only $2.4 million better off than originally expected. They will be about $5 million worse off in 2026 than his original contract’s salary cap number. I believe the Eagles will get a $250,000 cap credit in 2026 for a guaranteed workout bonus that already counted on the cap for the Eagles.

If you were hoping to get more clarity on the “mid-round pick” the Eagles are receiving in exchange for Huff, you’re currently out of luck. We’ll eventually find out what it is but for now it’s annoyingly being kept as a mystery for no real good reason. Perhaps the secrecy is related to it being a conditional pick? Still, just announce it like that then. We do know that Adam Schefter previously said it’ll be a Day 3 selection. The Eagles’ announcement also confirmed that it’s a pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

UPDATE: We finally have details on the pick! Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reports that the Eagles will receive “a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick that can turn into a fourth-round pick [with] conditions tied to Huff’s performance.”

We’ll see if we can find out exactly what those conditions are. For now, a 2026 fifth-round pick seems like a pretty decent return for a player who had become unplayable in this defense.

The Eagles are now projected to own 13 picks in next year’s draft:

1st
2nd
3rd (from New York Jets)
3rd
3rd (projected compensatory pick)
4th
4th (projected compensatory pick)
5th (from San Francisco 49ers, can elevate to 4th if conditions are met)
5th (from Atlanta Falcons)
5th (from Houston Texans)
5th
5th (projected compensatory pick)
7th

In addition to shedding salary and earning a draft pick, the Eagles also stand to benefit from the Huff trade by opening up a roster spot.
