Sticking with the current offseason theme, who do you think would be the Lions’ best flag football player of all-time?

Personally, I am pretty excited about the news of flag football being included in the 2028 Olympics. And while it isn’t the real thing in terms of 11-on-11 football, it is a way to further the game on a global scale.

For a player like Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs—already one of the league’s most popular players—it could be an opportunity to build up quite the international fan base. In fact, this could really be a “Dream Team” kind of moment for the NFL as a whole: A chance for their biggest and brightest stars to show out on a world stage.

That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:

Who would be the Lions’ all-time best flag football player?

Answer: I am a 90s baby, so you know I am going with the greatest running back to ever put on the pads: Barry Sanders. This felt like an easy choice considering Sanders is not only the best runner the game has ever seen, but also the most elusive.

If you can’t remember what his game looked like in real time, go throw on some old NFL Films tapes. To put it simply, Sanders was unreal throughout the duration of his 10-year professional career. He was the kind of runner that could make you look silly in a cubicle or phone booth, leaving defenders grasping for air and wondering what happened.
