Graham Gano down after the opening kickoff
The New York Giants have their first injury of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders as placekicker as Graham Gano was ruled doubtful following the opening kickoff.
Gano attempted to help with defending Austin Ekeler’s return, but crumpled to the ground and had to be helped off the field. The Giants had Gillan practice field goals after Gano cut his pre-game warmup short, and Gillan will kick field goals the rest of the way.
It was a situation to watch before the game as Gano deals with a groin injury. Gano was added to the Giants’ injury report with said groin injury on Saturday, and reportedly appeared uncomfortable during warmups.
The Giants chose not to activate rookie placekicker Jude McAtamney from the practice squad despite Gano’s showing up on Saturday’s injury report.
