Giants hope Skattebo adds playmaking at running back
Cam Skattebo is already turning heads before taking a single NFL snap.
In a recent feature on the top rookie running back sleepers from the 2025 class, DraftWire named Skattebo a sleeper to watch among rookie running backs. The Arizona State bruiser was selected 105th overall by the New York Giants.
DraftWire’s Scott DiBenedetto wrote:
The Giants struck gold in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with Tyrone Tracy. He rushed for 839 yards and five touchdowns while adding 38 catches, 284 yards, and a receiving score. They’re hoping to duplicate that magic with Skattebo. The Arizona State product is arguably the toughest running back in this year’s class and can be a three-down contributor in Brian Daboll’s offense.
He totaled 338 touches, 2,316 scrimmage yards, and 24 touchdowns last season, and has a play style that will be hard to keep off the field. Skattebo may not hop Devin Singletary on the depth chart right away, but he’ll get there in time.
The 2025 draft class was considered one of the deepest for running backs in recent memory, with 12 taken in the first four rounds. But as history shows, the best players always rise to the top, and the Giants and Skattebo are hoping Skattebo will do just that.
