A purple Christmas for Vikings fans?
One of the biggest games of the 2025 NFL season for the Minnesota Vikings could, reportedly, be a holiday matchup.
The #Vikings are expected to host the Lions on Dec. 25, in a Christmas Day matchup of the two teams that battled for the NFC North title last year.

According to Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star-Tribune, the Minnesota Vikings will be hosting the Detroit Lions on Christmas Day, which falls on a Thursday this year. This would be one of multiple games that would take place on the holiday.
UPDATE: Reports have also surfaced that this game will be broadcast on Netflix. So, I guess if you don’t have Netflix and you want to watch the game, you’ll have to remedy that somehow.
The Vikings and Lions battled for the NFC North title all the way through to the final week of the 2024 season, and both teams look poised to have strong seasons again in 2025.
This would appear to be another instance of the National Football League knowing what they’re doing as far as putting one of the year’s biggest matchups in front of what could be the biggest audience of the year.
Again, none of the potential matchups we’re reporting are official or anything, and nothing will be officially official until the league releases the full 2025 schedule this evening at 7:00 PM Central time. In the meantime, we’re tracking all of the news and speculation on our Schedule Tracker.
