Stewart, Knight, and Carter will all play key roles in defensive turnaround
Matt and Willie, well-known ball-knowers, are back with a Vengeance!
Check out the latest edition of Matt and Willie Know Ball, where we discuss the Cincinnati Bengals defensive draftees.
First-round selection Shemar Stewart is one of the most controversial picks in the NFL. Some love his traits, and others hate his lack of production. What do Matt and Willie think about the pick? How will he fit into Al Golden’s scheme? Will he be able to leap from Joseph Ossai and Myles Murphy for playing time?
Then there is second-round pick Demetrius Knight. While many have questioned the value of this pick, his tape tells a different story. Find out what Matt and Willie think about the Bengals’ new linebacker. What are his strengths? Why did the Bengals want him so much? Where does he fit in this defense?
The Bengals didn’t do very much in outside free agency this offseason, but they did double-down at linebacker, adding both Oren Burks and Joe Giles-Harris. So, with only six picks in this year’s draft, it was a bit of a surprise when they added two more linebackers. Why did they double-dip at linebacker? What does Barrett Carter bring to the table? How is he different than Knight?
Also, what’s up with these linebackers wearing 40s numbers?
