Do you think the Lions should try and sign defensive end Jadeveon Clowney now that he is a free agent?

For a while now, many people around NFL circles have had only a few questions for Detroit Lions’ general manager Brad Holmes. After all, with one of the most complete and talented rosters in the NFL, there isn’t really much to pick apart.

However, one specific area that people have been wondering about for some time is the defensive end position opposite from star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson. And unfortunately for Holmes and the rest of the Lions’ staff, those thoughts were only amplified for some once Hutchinson was lost for the year during a blowout win over Dallas in the early stages of the 2024 season.

So when a player like Jadeveon Clowney hits free agency after being released by the Carolina Panthers, it’s natural for people to begin wondering if he would be a fit for Detroit in 2025.

Chances are that you are familiar with Clowney’s game. And while he may have fallen a bit short of the lofty expectations set for him when he was still at the University of South Carolina, he has been a productive player in the NFL during his 11-year career.

That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:

Do you think the Lions should pursue Jadeveon Clowney?

Answer: If the price is right, I would be willing to explore a one-year deal for Clowney. I think some around the league probably still overvalue what he brings to the table as a pass rusher, but he is still a top-flight run defender, and someone who can set an edge at the defensive end spot opposite Hutchinson.

Clowney, along with other defensive linemen like Josh Paschal, Marcus Davenport, and Levi Onwuzurike would give defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard plenty of options when it comes to how he deploys his defensive front on a weekly basis.

How about you? Do you think the Lions should pursue Jadeveon Clowney? Let us know in the comments below.
