Will the Vikings be on the list?
We are less than a week away from the release of the National Football League’s 2025 regular season schedule, but there’s a chance we might know a small piece of the Minnesota Vikings’ schedule the day before that.
The league has announced that they will announce the full slate of international games for the upcoming season on Tuesday morning, 13 May, during the broadcast of Good Morning, Football on the NFL Network.
As we’ve mentioned on numerous occasions, the Vikings are set to serve as the road team for three teams that will be “hosting” international games this season. Those teams are:
- Pittsburgh Steelers (hosting the first-ever game in Dublin, Ireland)
- Cleveland Browns (hosting a game in London, England)
- Los Angeles Chargers (hosting a game in Sao Paulo, Brazil)
The Vikings have made overseas trips in two of the last three seasons, playing as the host team in London in 2022 against the New Orleans Saints and as the road team this past season in their game with the New York Jets. I’m not sure if the league would send them overseas for a third time in four years, but maybe the NFL is like Hallmark. . .they care enough to send the very best.
There was a rumor floating around online, and it’s one that I certainly hope isn’t true, that the Vikings would play both the Steelers and the Browns overseas in consecutive weeks. I’m not sure how sound an idea that would be, to be honest, but if that does happen it better be a long time before the league sends the Vikings for an overseas game again.
Then again, as we’ve pointed out on several occasions, the Vikings have never lost a game that they’ve played outside of the United States, as they sport an 8-0 record that covers both regular season and exhibition contests. That doesn’t mean I want them to be overseas more often or anything, but they do have a pretty solid track record when playing outside of the U.S.
Do you think the Vikings will be a part of any of the games that are named in advance of the rest of the schedule? Let us know what you think in the comments!
