Did the Giants hit another home run?

The New York Giants 2025 draft is over, and it might have been the most consequential one in the last twenty years. The reaction to the Giants’ first four picks has been almost overwhelmingly positive, and GM Joe Schoen has garnered praise from just about every outlet.

The Giants had three picks spread between the fifth and seventh rounds, selecting Marcus Mbow out of Purdue, tight end Thomas Fidone of Nebraska and finally Oklahoma State cornerback Korie Black.

What do the three newest Giants bring to Big Blue?

Round 5

154th overall – Marcus Mbow, OL, Purdue
[Prospect Profile]

The Giants continued to add to their trenches and get great value in the process.

Mbow offers great versatility and competitive toughness on the offensive line. He got his start playing guard for Purdue, then spent 2023 and 2024 playing right tackle. Mbow will likely kick back inside in the NFL and could challenge for the right guard job. He has short (32-inch) arms, but good feet for an interior lineman and could even get cross-trained as a center. He comes into the NFL with solid technique and is a dangerous blocker when he gets to the second level.

Mbow might start out as a utility backup, but he has starting upside.

Round 7

219th overall – Thomas Fidone II, TE, Nebraska

Schoen certainly loves Day 3 tight ends, particularly ones with excellent size and athleticism.

Fidone is a long tight end at 6-foot-5 with 34-inch arms and 10⅝-inch hands. He’s a bit on the lean side at 243 pounds, but is a willing blocker as well as a good route runner. Fidone isn’t quite as athletic as Daniel Bellinger and Theo Johnson, but the Giants now have an impressive collection of big, fast tight ends to attack seams.

Fidone will likely push Chris Manhertz for TE3 on the Giants roster. Looking ahead he could allow the Giants to move on from Bellinger after 2025 if they choose not to sign him to an extension.

246th overall – Korie Black, CB, Oklahoma State

Want to know who the Giants will draft? Check their Top 30 visits, because six of their seven picks were in for Top 30 visits over the course of the pre-draft process.

Black is a good sized corner at 6-foot, 192 pounds, as well as 4.3 speed. He also has 3 interceptions and 9 passes defensed in his last year at Oklahoma State.

Black’s size, speed, and production make him an intriguing developmental option. He’s at his best playing from depth, and is a good fit in off man and zone coverages. His path to the 53-man roster is through special teams, but he’ll be am intriguing follow through the off-season program.
