Rams address tight end early in the 2025 draft
With the 46th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. A year after speculation that the Rams were interested in trading up for Brock Bowers, general manager Les Snead has gone back to the tight end position by picking Ferguson with L.A.’s first choice in the 2025 draft.
Will Ferguson finally be the franchise tight end heir apparent to Tyler Higbee that the Rams have been seeking for years?

Since drafting Higbee in 2016, the Rams have picked the likes of Gerald Everett, Brycen Hopkins, and Jacob Harris, but none were able to secure long-term roles in L.A. In 2023, the Rams drafted Davis Allen in the fifth.
But now Ferguson is one of the highest drafted tight ends in the history of the Rams franchise.
Ferguson is 6’5, 247 lbs and he ran a 4.63 40-yard dash at the combine with a 1.55 10-yard split and an impressive 39” vertical. He set school records for career receptions with 134 and touchdowns with 16. Last season, Ferguson had 43 catches for 591 yards.
Lance Zierlein projected Ferguson to be a third round pick. The Rams traded down with the Falcons from 26 to 46 and now they’ve taken him in the middle of the second.
