The Eagles quickly turned their attention from Super Bowl celebrations to roster building this offseason — they signed several guys to extensions, brought in some low-risk players with experience, and now will look to add talent via the NFL Draft.
Heading into the weekend, the Eagles are starting with eight total picks, including No. 32 overall on Day 1, two picks on Day 2, and five on Day 3. Howie Roseman is the first to remind fans that roster building extends far after the draft, and even the undrafted free agents they sign in the days that follow are part of their plan. He’s made a point in recent years to draft based on player and the value of each pick rather than trying to fill any one specific positional need.
All but two of the Eagles’ offensive starters are locked in for the next several years, and with young guys on defense who are expected to earn big money deals over the next few years, Roseman and his staff have their work cut out for them to build in the trenches with future salary cap hits in mind.
