Random Ramsdom: They can draft who they want

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/22/25

When you write and talk about the NFL it’s mostly a business of speculation on what teams can do, what they want to do, and what information is actual information vs. misinformation, and I think it’s fun (maybe even funny) when someone says that a team MUST or MUST NOT do something.

I’m all for hot takes, but I don’t think any of us can say for sure what the Los Angeles Rams must do, or can’t do. I think the Rams have set themselves up through their moves to functionally draft whoever they want whether that player helps them now or in the future.

But, look this is just a Random Ramsdom, I am not trying to rain on anyone’s parade and write how you feel, say what you mean! Strong takes (even if wrong) are probably better then weak takes. Please check out the links, comment on whatever you want and have a great Tuesday!

Rams Can Not Draft Rising SEC QB in First Round (si.com)

“CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan mocked Milroe to the Rams with the 26th pick, and while I respect the work and opinions of Sullivan, he could not be any more wrong about this situation.

“My antenna was raised when I saw that Jalen Milroe was invited to Green Bay for Day 1 of the draft.” Wrote Sullivan. “They don’t do that unless they have it on pretty good authority that there’s a possibility he comes off the board, right?”

“Given that he’s more of a project, I think that makes him a fascinating prospect for the Rams to target as Matthew Stafford continues to go year-to-year with the organization. Sean McVay could have his cake by contending with Stafford in the immediate and eat it too by developing Milroe as a dual threat star in the shadows.”

Matthew Stafford shares his thoughts on the possibility of the Rams drafting a QB (ramswire)

“Having no long-term plan at the position right now, the Rams might feel this year is the right time to take a quarterback and plan for the future. If that happens, Stafford will have no problem with it. He just wants players who make the Rams better.

Stafford said he would welcome a young quarterback “with open arms and try to teach him as much as I possibly can.”

Here’s the full quote from Adam Grosbard of the LA Daily News.”

Final Rams 7-round mock draft: LA trades down from No. 26, picks up extra 3rd-rounder (ramswire)

“The final mock drafts of 2025 are trickling in with the first round set to begin on Thursday, and we’ve put together our last projections for the Los Angeles Rams. In our final mock draft, the Rams trade back from No. 26 overall and still land one of the top cornerbacks in the class, which would be a home run for Les Snead and Sean McVay this week.

Later on, the Rams pick up a starting-caliber tight end, an athletic linebacker and a speedy receiver, but they pass on every quarterback from start to finish. Instead, they double-dip at cornerback, bring in a pass-catching running back and address a few other needs.

Here’s our last mock draft of 2025 using Pro Football Focus simulator.”
