Trade for Jalen Ramsey? Many fans are skeptical

Some fans don’t see benefit of trade for Miami Pro Bowl cornerback

The Las Vegas Raiders potentially could trade for Jalen Ramsey soon.

The Miami Dolphins have publicly made the perennial Pro Bowl cornerback available around the league and the Raiders have a need at the position, so it makes some sense.

If Ramsey is brought to the Silver and Black, would the Raider Nation be happy? Well, we asked our community members if they would be in favor of the Raiders trading for Ramsey this week.

It seems like there is some hesitation in the fan base about such a deal. In a poll with more than 600 responses, 57 percent of the voters indicated they wouldn’t be comfortable with the Raiders making that deal, while 43 percent of the voters would be in favor of it.

The Raiders reportedly had interest in signing a top free agent, such as Byron Murphy (he re-signed with Minnesota Vikings for big dollars) and they remain thin at the position. Las Vegas recently waived starter Jack Jones and currently have newly signed Eric Stokes, Decamerion Richardson and Jakorian Bennett as their outside cornerbacks.

Ramsey is a Pete Carroll-type cornerback as he stands at 6-1 and weighs 209. He also has 33,3/8 inch arms, so he has the size Carroll covets. Ramsey has a big contract, but the Raiders have the salary-cap room to make it fit.

Ramsey turns 31 in October and has already been traded twice, so the Dolphins are poised make it that all three of Ramsey’s teams have decided to trade him.

The 2024 season broke a seven-year streak in which Ramsey made the Pro Bowl. He has been a three-time first-team All-Pro, the last such honor coming in 2021.

We get both sides of this idea. There are risks involved, but if the trade compensation is right (and it should be), it might be worth the Raiders’ time to investigate.

Here are some of your responses. Sign up and go to the comments section.

Get him for a 5th round pick…….there is your CB. (STARTER)
Now you can take the RB in the 1st
WR in the 2nd
DT in the 3rd
thats 4 starters
4th round is o-line….possible starter………….If you trade back with Dallas,,,you can kill this draft by getting extra 2nd round pick….that gets Hampton from UNC and your project QB

$25M? Nope.

I would rather sign Asante Samuel after the draft, when it doesn’t cost the Raiders a compensatory pick. He is a lot younger, won’t cost as much money and no draft pick lost.
