The draft is a popularity contest of sorts
It’s the final Monday before the 2025 draft. For this final installment of Mock Draft Monday, we’ll flip the formula and break it down by player, not by mock draft.
These are the four most mocked players to the Eagles in the past week from mocks tracked by Mock Draft Database. No other players show up more than twice.
DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss
8 mock drafts
Nolen feels like an Eagles pick. His quickness off the snap would pair perfectly with Jalen Carter, and if he can reach most of his potential the Eagles would have a dominant DT duo. It also feels like he probably won’t be on the board at 32, so I would not at all be surprised if they trade up for him.
S Malachi Starks, Georgia
7 mock drafts
Meanwhile, Starks is the opposite of what the Eagles do in the 1st round. There have been comparisons between Starks and Brian Branch, but those are lazy. Branch is a better athlete, was a more versatile defender as a prospect, and was coming off a strong season while Starks is not. Even lazier are any notions that the Eagles will draft him because he played at Georgia. 8 Bulldogs were drafted last year, none of them by the Eagles.
EDGE James Pearce, Tennessee
7 mock drafts
Throughout the offseason Pearce has been a fairly common mock selection for the Eagles. Is there any reason to think they’re actually interested? Pearce is a one dimensional pass rusher, relying on his speed, and he offers little vs the run or in coverage. He also has coachability/attitude concerns. Then again, Jalen Carter had similar issues (aside from the tragic accident) and that worked out.
EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College
4 mock drafts
Ezeiruaku is a prospect the Eagles obviously like as they have had him in for one of their 30 official visits. There’s a lot to like about his game. Boston College dropped him in coverage as a LB, had him as a proper hand in the ground DE, and occasionally put him at ILB to rush the QB. His feet never stop working, he’s going to get some coverage sacks on his motor alone.
