Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Could Patriots trade No. 4 pick for AJ Brown? – Audacy
On Friday, Nick “Fitzy” Stevens called into WEEI Afternoons to share some intel he received from a reliable source as it relates to a possible draft day trade between the Patriots and the Eagles. And folks, it’s a doozy. Here’s what Fitzy had to say on WEEI: “Earlier today, a little birdie with some really good intelligence – a well sourced phone call came to me to offer this possible scenario: If somebody that we wanted the Patriots to select very badly, Abdul Carter, were to fall to fourth – and I know the scenario is slightly unlikely. If he were to fall at fourth overall, how would you feel about a certain team that recently won the Super Bowl calling up your New England Patriots in desperation and want of Abdul Carter, and offering a certain wide receiver who has admitted that he loves New England and would love to play for the Patriots and possibly more selections in a blockbuster draft day trade? That’s right, I got a call earlier today saying that the Philadelphia Eagles really, really, really want Abdul Carter and that they would consider, or rather are planning, to call your New England Patriots on draft day, if Carter falls to four, to see if Mike Vrabel would like a reunion with AJ Brown, and possibly more draft selections and compensation to come.” [BLG Note: My take is that this is complete BS.]
2025 NFL Draft: Ranking the top 155 players – BGN
The 2025 NFL Draft is less than one week away. Boards are locked in across the league and teams are strategizing for what their first, second, and third days of the draft are going to look like. After a few months of tape study, considerations of the combine, and pro-days, and a few re-evaluations … here is my vertical board for this upcoming class.
Daniel Jeremiah talks Eagles ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft – PhillyVoice
#JimmySays: If we’re just talking about pure talent, there’s no way in hell Nolen should make it to pick 32. But… there are ambiguous character concerns surrounding him, and a lot of teams are dumb. So, we’ll see. Jeremiah notes that Nolan Smith had no business being available at 30 and Cooper DeJean should’ve never lasted into the second round. I’ll add that it was insane that nine teams passed on Jalen Carter.
Howie Roseman’s aggressive approach to draft-day trades stems from being an outsider – PFT
Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman never played football, and got his start as a front office intern with the team. And he says that makes him look at his job differently. Asked why he’s so eager to make trades during the draft, Roseman said it comes from having a different background and different mindset than most NFL executives.
Commanders fans are expecting Adam Peters to work hard in the draft, and to focus on defense early – Hogs Haven
Six out of ten respondents expect a defensive lineman — and here, we’re basically talking about an edge rushing defensive end — to be the the first position drafted by Adam Peters, whether that happens on Thursday night or Friday. Here’s a reminder of the current FanDuel odds for each position. […] Overall, 77% of respondents expect the first pick to be on the defensive side of the ball, which isn’t a big surprise since the Commanders’ two biggest offseason moves — trades for WR Deebo Samuel and LT Laremy Tunsil — bolstered the offense. Moreover, the Commanders, having recently signed a 4th quarterback in Josh Johnson, now have 40 offensive players under contract compared to just 32 defensive players.
86% of mock drafts published since Monday have Cowboys picking a wide receiver – but which one? – Blogging The Boys
At the end of January, we published our first mock draft database of the season. At the time, 22 of the 25 mocks (88%) we looked at were projecting the Cowboys to take either RB Ashton Jeanty (13 mocks) or WR Luther Burden (9). I can already tell you that neither of those players shows up in today’s mock draft round up. Not once. In mid March, right after after the first wave of free agency, we looked at 40 of the latest mock drafts and found that the mock draft community had pivoted quite significantly over the previous six weeks: WR & RB remained the most popular positions but at 48% of the mocks, they were a far cry from the 88% we saw in our January mock draft summary. In total, 18 different players were mocked to the Cowboys in the 40 mocks, so there was clearly no consensus on what the Cowboys would do in the draft at the time. Today, we’ve summarized 35 of the latest mock drafts published on or after Monday this week (see table at the bottom of this post), and we see yet another seismic shift in the mock draft landscape. 30 of the 35 mocks (86%) published since Monday have the Cowboys picking a wide receiver, with WRs Tetairoa McMillan and Matthew Golden getting 15 votes each. OL Tyler Booker has 3 votes, CB Shavon Revel and RB Omarion Hampton get one vote each.
Survey results: Just 5% of fans think Shedeur Sanders will be a Giant – Big Blue View
The 2025 NFL Draft is almost upon us, and it could be one of the most consequential drafts in recent memory for the New York Giants. It’s no secret that the futures of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll hang in the balance this year. And while the draft (probably) won’t be the deciding factor, it will be a big factor in determining their fate. They need the team to show progress and start building towards something and look like a team that can be consistently competitive. FanDuel is running odds with regards to the 2025 Draft. Particularly, they’re offering odds on which position will be picked first by each team. Without knowing the odds, we asked the Big Blue View community which position they believe the Giants will select first. The answer is overwhelmingly “edge”.
QB Jaxson Dart will not be attending NFL draft in Green Bay – ESPN
Quarterback Jaxson Dart has apparently changed his mind and will not be in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL draft. Dart, who played at Ole Miss, is ranked by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. as the 16th best player on his Big Board and is projected as a late first-round pick by Kiper. No reason has been given for Dart’s change of plans.
What’s your team’s biggest NFL Draft regret? These are ours. – SB Nation
Cleveland Browns — ALLLLLLL of them. The Browns draft history is pathetic, almost all of it. There are only a few first-rounders since “The Return” in 1999 that got second contracts, including Joe Thomas, Joe Haden and Myles Garrett. Cleveland fans have had the NFL draft as their Super Bowl for years and, year after year, have been failed. To give an actual answer, two stand out: Trading down one spot with their bitter rival Baltimore Ravens, so the Ravens could draft Hall of Famer Haloti Ngata while the Browns took Kamerion Wimbley. Also, Johnny Manziel.
