How that could affect Raiders and Michael Mayer
Perhaps Michael Mayer is still available in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.
If so, he likely won’t be the only veteran tight end on the trade market and likely won’t be the most sought-after tight end, either.
There have been media reports in recent days that both Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Goedert of the Philadelphia Eagles may be moved before or during the April 24-26 NFL draft.
Both Andrews and Goedert are well-accomplished players and could attract markets.
There has been media reports all offseason that the Raiders could ship out Mayer in a trade. They have added veteran Ian Thomas who currently will back up star Brock Bowers along with Mayer.
A previous Las Vegas regime traded up in the second round in 2023 to take the highly-regarded Mayer out Notre Dame.
He has yet to produce big. Mayer has a total of 48 catches in two season and missed six games for a personal reason in 2024.
It is not known whether the Raiders till plan to trade Mayer, but if they want to, Andrews and Goedert could affect his market.
