Jaxson Dart lands with New York in Jeremiah’s scenario
NFL Network draft insider Daniel Jeremiah gave Big Blue View his perfect 3-round NFL Draft scenario for the New York Giants during a pre-draft conference call on Friday.
“To me, a draft I would love for the Giants is if they were to select Abdul Carter, get him on board and then after that you’re trying to find somebody [at quarterback] who fits you without having to give away the farm to go get him,” Jeremiah said.
For Jeremiah, Shedeur Sanders is QB2. Jeremiah, though, doesn’t think the Giants will be able to move high enough from No. 34 at the top of Round 2 to select the Colorado quarterback.
“I have Shedeur as my No. 2. I wouldn’t have a problem if they tried to move up a little to get him, but parting with massive resources to vault way back up there I don’t know that I would love that,” Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah, though, does have a plan. Move from No. 34 to No. 20 to get in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers and select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“Jaxson Dart to me just from a fit, a little more physical, a little bit more arm playing in that stadium, in that division in the weather you might encounter,” Jeremiah said. “That one would not necessarily require a huge cost to move up.”
Here is Jeremiah’s proposed deal:
“If they just wanted to move up and get in front of Pittsburgh and get to 20, the cost would be a 2, one of their 3s (65 or 99) this year and a 5,” Jeremiah said. “They still have another 3 left. So, you could conceivably come out of your first three picks with Abdul Carter, arguably the best player in the draft, a quarterback of the future in Jaxson Dart who you don’t necessarily have to start right away and then whoever you would find there in the third round.
“That, to me, is a really nice haul for the Giants.”
Trading to No. 20 would be a move with the Denver Broncos. The various trade charts score Jeremiah’s proposal, sending pick No. 65 to Denver, as being right on target:
