Does Kolton Miller’s contract status change things?
Life changes fast in the NFL.
Few woke up Wednesday morning thinking a disgruntled Kolton Miller could affect what the Las Vegas Raiders do early in next week’s NFL draft. Yet, potentially, that could be the case.
It was reported that Miller, the Raiders’ longtime standout left tackle, is staying away from voluntary offseason workouts because he wats a new contract. Miller, who turns 30 in October, is entering the final year of his contract.
Now, these types of things are normal around the NFL and it doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a major problem between Miller and the Raiders.
But the timing of this development has to be considered.
If the Raiders, who reportedly aren’t currently engaging Miller in extension talks. aren’t interested in giving him a big new contract (they have the salary-cap room to do so) they could decide to trade him within the next week to get another draft pick.
They have also been connected to tackles Will Campbell and Armand Membou early in the draft. So, a decision may need to be made quickly.
On the other hand, the Raiders have several other needs and creating another one and filling it early in the drat despite having the means to keep Miller may be an odd choice.
Either way, a decision could be looming.
What do you think Las Vegas should do?
