Dolfans weigh in on Tyreek’s future in Miami!

Sadly, it has become something that I now almost expect: a story about Tyreek Hill that is not a positive one. If the most recent incident were an isolated one, especially with the police stating that no law was broken, it would be something that could be easily shrugged off. I also suspect that if it were a rare occurrence for Hill, then the NFL would not have requested the 911 tapes to review them. The rumors of Hill being traded away would still have been one of the top national Miami Dolphins stories if not for the very confusing story of Jalen Ramsey and the front office agreeing to a trade. It’s seriously the most Dolphins thing to have this happen with one of their top players at a position that was already in desperate need of another player to fill a hole.

So, with all the negative buzz around Tyreek Hill, I asked the following question last week:

If the team were to trade Tyreek Hill, no matter your take on whether it should or should not happen, what would be a return that you would either be happy with or at least be able to live with as a fan?

Please share your thoughts and answers in the comments section below-

USMCFinzFreak, having been a fan for as long as I have been alive, feels much like most of us who have supported the team through many decades of disappointment.

I’m at the point in my fandom life (since 1970) that after many decades of mediocrity following the glory years, I’ve reached a point in my life where I don’t expect much from this organization. Getting excited about high profile player signings or being let down by letting good players go (Csonka, Kiik, Warfield to WFL was my biggest disappointment), has gotten old, like me. Gone are my up and down emotions concerning player this or player that. Now I just hop on and strap in the roller-coaster ride and let it take me up, down, sideways, and upside down, without me thinking about it or getting emotional. I’ll still bleed aqua and orange until my permanent dirt-nap, but I won’t die stressing about any player coming or going. Fins Up!!

holland182.0 ideally wants a 3rd but would take a nice haul from 7-11.

Ideally, I’d like to get a third round pick. Not that a third round pick would even come close to matching the production of Hill. But if a team calls and offers up a 12 pack of Mountain Dew and 3 bags of Flaming Hot Cheetos, I am not necessarily saying no.

SuperG! makes a good point, but this is also why X is not on the team now, even though he would sign for peanuts, and why no one else has taken a chance on a guy who was previously very productive.

I know that eventually, some other Phins player will be in the news for something foolish, but that will most likely be followed by some statement from the team, a public apology from the player, and that’s the end. Most of those players somehow manage to do what Hill cannot and keep their name out of the news even a second time.

Ummm…. Xavien Howard? How many off the field incidents did he have? How many chances did he get with the Dolphins?

glen55 I for one did not make any conclusion. I am aware that no law was reportedly broken. This does not take away that this is yet another negative story either way.

I have seen 2 articles on here about this incident, and in both of them the authors seem to be jumping to conclusions, and in neither of them do the authors report any facts to justify those conclusions. Maybe I’m just behind the curve here but I don’t see anything to make this any more impactful than Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. Why should I care if Tyreek Hill threw a laptop on the floor or took his baby and walked on the balcony or his mother-in-law got scared and called the cops?

JLG2435 doesn’t see the point with the headaches that he brings.

Honestly he’s become so annoying I wouldn’t care if they just cut him at this point lol. I know, that would be stupid, but it’s not like he does much of anything if Tua isn’t playing anyway. He’s good for about 3 catches for 37 yards if Tua or Mahomes isn’t throwing to him.

twinssdfan thinks that his absence from the roster would create a hole, forcing McDaniel to change up his offense, which has centered around Hill and Tua.

Ok, Hill’s latest drama has casused a Stir for the Right Reasons. I’m sure a trade could be worked out Grier did that in 2019 to shed salary cap. My question is Hill’s salary is one thing but his Speed is another it would create a void a draft pick or two for Hill would be nice but the question still remains. Coach MM would have to change a bit, moving A-Chain to WR would create another hole yes draft is deep with backs. I’m sure all possiblities are being looked at.

StanleyDoyle1 is just waiting for his usual apologies.

It should be about a week before Hill cycles through his bag of non-apologies and (1) tacitly suggests that his wife is to blame, (2) offers to lend his expertise to local battered-women’s shelters (like he did seven months ago when offering to teach civil rights to the Miami police department), and (3) says that THIS YEAR will be his BEST EVER.

sdphinsfan believes that with the loss of leadership on the roster, things might only get worse.

Seriously…trade him to a contender for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I can only imagine the drama every week without TA and Calais in the locker room. He’ll be quitting once a month at least.

We need to drop the morality component of this. He is exactly what he thought he was when we signed him. The FO knew it, and was willing to pay him to be all that he is. And he’s done what they wanted. He’s sold jerseys and brought attention (good and bad because to them, all attention is good). But it’s time to move on. Every circus has a clown show, and at some point, every circus moves on to the next town.

SlayerNation1 doesn’t believe that Hill will make a big enough difference in the end to move the needle and correctly states that Grier needs to go either way.

Most likely, hold your nose and Tyreek will add to the fetid odor of the 2025 season, which will go down in terminal descent. I would also be perfectly fine with launching Tyreek at any point. However, that move is more suggestive of Grier returning, which is unacceptable. As a side note, I don’t understand posters trying to question other fans’ taking a 180° stance on Hill. Yes, no matter what His skill is, We all have a morality tipping point. Need I remind that Hill is the recidivist, not the fan base? Stop shaking your finger at people who are done with this clown and previously thought He was great. Truth be told, it is healthy and encouraging that people have a limit. From a football perspective, even with Hill, the ceiling is 8-9 wins, no playoff wins. Basically, He is their best player and still not a material difference maker. Do You prefer 8-9 wins with no playoff wins or 6-7 wins without Hill, also with no playoff wins?

jmworacle asks if the team did any vetting on Hill. I have to believe that each and every one of them was well aware of the kind of person that Hill was before pulling the trigger.

Did the “Blunder Kind” Chris Grier do any vetting before pulling the trigger on trading for the man?

The consensus, if there is one, is that most fans either want him gone or don’t care at this point, either way. I think that many of us are looking at 2025 as a year that won’t go well, given some of the losses and, of course, the recent Ramsey news. I hope that’s wrong, and McDaniel somehow makes some magic happen, but I believe that by this time next year, things will look much different in the Dolphins’ front office.

As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day. Please join us tomorrow evening for our Phinsider Victory of the Week post.
