With the 30th pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Buffalo Bills select…
The Buffalo Bills are up next in our 2025 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft. This year, the Bills are represented by POD commenter BigJShaky.
It’ll be on him to help Buffalo get over the hump. While Detroit Lions fans may be frustrated with how close the Lions have gotten to the Super Bowl over the past two years, consider the Bills’ strife. They’ve had 10+ wins for six straight seasons, won their division five straight times, and have yet to make it to the big game. In fact, they’ve only gotten two Conference Championship appearances out of this run, despite having top-six offenses for each of the past five seasons.
But hope springs eternal in the NFL Draft, and the Bills are on the clock to make their first-round selection. With the 30th pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Buffalo Bills have selected…
Tyleik Williams, defensive tackle out of Ohio State.
Here’s BigJShaky with the explanation:
After yet another AFC East-winning season, our Bills lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. Again. Here’s a quick look at the team needs we can address to get beyond our personal Groundhog Day.
Cornerback – We recently locked up Christian Benford to a new four-year deal, but Kaiir Elam and Rasul Douglas are gone, leaving no clear starter opposite Benford.
Defensive tackle – Even if Ed Oliver can bounce back from a disappointing season, he needs help beyond an aging DaQuan Jones and unproven DeWayne Carter.
Edge – We signed Joey Bosa (yay!), but will he actually be on the field (yikes!)? Two other possible contributors in Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht are facing six-game suspensions.
Wide receiver – We paid Khalil Shakir and have high hopes for Keon Coleman (and his jackets). Although the team’s top needs are on defense, a true number one option for Josh Allen would be a bonus.
The run on DT and edge players through the first round of this draft was not ideal for our Bills. The top ranked receivers were gone too. That combined with the lack of consensus beyond the top three cornerbacks left me without a clear decision. After some deliberation, I selected Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State Suckeyes.
Williams is most heralded for his run defense. His addition as a nose tackle/one-technique should help improve a defense that gave up 4.51 yards per carry last year (ranking 19th). The Ringer’s Danny Kelly has Williams ranked 30th on his big board [Editor’s note: He’s now 23rd], noting that the DT is “an active and tenacious defensive lineman with foot quickness and lateral agility at the snap.” The Athletic’s Dane Brugler slots Tyleik at 33, highlighting “Williams’ impact as a dominant run defender.” That said, the scouts do note limitations for Williams in terms of pass rush and length.
In Buffalo, where Sean McDermott likes to rotate d-linemen, we are hopeful Williams can make a day one impact as a run stuffer while freeing up space for Bosa and Oliver to do their thing (you know … when they play). Here’s hoping we’re plugging up a leik-y defense. No good? Here’s hoping for Tyleik on a Leash.
