See if you would give up No. 3 in this scenario
In the many scenario-based 7-round New York Giants mock drafts I have done leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, I have often selected Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart at No. 34 or via trade back into the later stages of the first round.
I think such a move is a reasonable objecting for Giants GM Joe Schoen.
One scenario I never explored in a mock draft was to trade DOWN from No. 3 with the intent of selecting Dart.
For fun over the weekend, I ran a mock draft scenario using the Pro Football Network simulator in which I traded down to No. 8 with the Carolina Panthers and selected Dart there.
I received the Panthers second-round pick in 2025 (No. 57) and a second-round pick in 2026, while giving up pick No. 246. Here is the haul I ended up with:

I actually passed on Shedeur Sanders here, leaving him for the New Orleans Saints at No. 9. Trading down from No. 3 meant I also passed on edge defender Abdul Carter.
Dart may well be selected in the top 10, though whether he deserves to be taken that high in debatable. Todd McShay of The Ringer has equal grades on Dart and Sanders. I will take the guy who comes without the potential drama.
For me, what makes taking Dart this early in the draft tenable is the pair of second-round picks I was able to add. So, it was ‘quarterback-plus.’ In this draft, that netted me a potential starting guard in Jonah Savaiinaea. It also added a valuable second-round pick in 2026
Is this a deal, and a draft pick you could make? Let us know in the comments and by voting in the poll.
