Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi tells Pat McAfee that he likes the Rams to beat the Cardinals

The Los Angeles Rams head to Arizona to face the Cardinals as surprising 1.5-point underdogs in Week 2, according to FanDuel and anywhere else. The opportunity to get points with the Rams going against the Cardinals is a rare one and it’s a bet that former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi told The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday morning that he really likes for L.A.:

“Matthew Stafford, I thought was sensational (against the Lions). He was getting the crap beat out of him, he had a left tackle who wasn’t a left tackle playing over there. With a week to gameplan, and the Rams played good defense…Their corner situation was hurt, they got tired in that game. Arizona is not very good on defense, I don’t think they’re gonna rush, I think Stafford can make enough plays. I know they don’t have Puka Nacua, I know they’ll miss him, and I think Sean McVay can gameplan to win a tight game.”

“When you rush Kyler Murray and make him play QB from the pocket, he has a hard time seeing down the field. McVay can’t go 0-2, you don’t want to be 0-2, you gotta figure out. Now that he has time knowing which players are out, he can game plan for it. And Stafford is so tough.”

Said McAfee: “That’s Stafford football.”

Stafford and McVay style football is what the Rams hope to use to “upset” the Cardinals in Week 2. So far, that does beat what we know about Jonathan Gannon and Kyler Murray’s brand of football.
