With the 23rd pick in the Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select…

The 2025 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft has reached the most hated team in the NFL (according to me): the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers will host this year’s draft, much to the dismay of… anyone that actually wants to go to the draft. But this is what things have become for the Packers: the offseason is suddenly their Super Bowl again. Can’t relate.

For the first time since 2010, the Packers have gone three straight years without winning the division. and if they don’t win it in 2025, it’s be the first time since 2001 that they’ve gone four years without a divisional crown.

To help the Packers figure it out, commenters/traitor (KIDDING) JohnnyMo85 is acting as Green Bay’s general manager in this year’s community mock. Before we get to their pick, check out the previous 22 picks with our 2025 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft tracker.

With the 23rd pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers have selected…

Emeka Egbuka, wide receiver out of Ohio State.

Here’s JohnnyMo85 explaining the pick:

The Packers are on the clock. A hush falls over Lambeau Field. This historic stadium is housing the 2025 NFL Draft, and Cheeseheads pack Lambeau’s hallowed halls, nervously slurping Spotted Cows, hoping against hope that they might get a difference maker in the first round…

Roger Goodell steps up to the microphone…

“With the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select….”

You can hear a pin drop…or a beer bottle…

“Emeka Egbuka, wide receiver, Ohio State.”

The crowd erupts in celebration.

Green Bay hasn’t selected an offensive skill position player in the first round since 2002. Fans had started to believe that this day may never come, but here they are. Some fans may have preferred a more traditional X receiver, or even a prototypical Z, but Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst goes for Egbuka, the highest rated receiver left on his board, who primarily played the Y (slot) position in college.

Although the Packers already have a solid slot option in Jayden Reed, Egbuka may offer wide receiver Z versatility with his size (6-foot-1, 202 pounds), ability to succeed in contested catch situations, and superior route-running prowess. Despite Ohio State being a wide receiver factory over the past few years, Egbuka actually finished his career at OSU as the all-time reception leader. This fact isn’t lost on Gutekunst, who sees Egbuka as a star in the making.

The Pack currently has an exceptionally young wide-receiver core, but it’s one that’s full of question marks. Christian Watson is on a contract year and although he’s flashed potential, he’s yet to prove that he can stay healthy and become a reliable number one receiver. Romeo Doubs has had huge games but also has had maturity issues and is also on a contract year. Jayden Reed has been a difference-maker in the slot, but he will also be in a contract year next year.

Getting Egbuka, who could theoretically grow into the Packers’ version of Amon-Ra St. Brown, on a four-year deal (with a fifth-year option) could become a pillar of the wide receiver room for years to come.

What do you think of this pick? Give it a grade in the poll below, and then share your specific thoughts in the comment section at the bottom of this page.
