Safety Julian Blackmon missed practice today with a shoulder injury. The Colts secondary took an injury blow earlier in the week when Juju Brents landed on IR so another injury would be disastrous for an already young group. Blackmon is one of the leaders in the secondary and brings well needed communication on game days.
Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner missed practice today with a back injury. Buckner injured his back late in the game on Sunday but is definitely not one to miss games due to injury. It is more than likely the team let Buckner rest instead of practicing this week with the game on Sunday in mind.
Defensive end Kwity Paye missed practice today with a hamstring injury. Paye was part of a defensive line unit that produced constant pressure on Texans CJ Stroud but also that was ran over by Joe Mixon. With Samson Ebukam landing on IR and Laiatu Latu still only one gave into his rookie year it is vital the Colts have Paye’s presence off the edge.
Wide receiver Josh Downs was limited today at practice due to an ankle injury. Downs missed Sundays game due to the ankle injury he sustained in training camp. Downs told the media today he was around 70% healthy last week and is 80-90% this week. He seems to be trending in the right direction and could feature Sunday.
Kicker Matt Gay was a full participant at practice today. Gay missed practice all last week and the have Sunday due to a hernia issue. Rookie kicker Spencer Shrader was brought up from the practice squad to kick on Sunday but it looks like that may be a one off with Gay practicing fully today.
