Raiders draft: Fans not into 1st-round quarterback

Most fans would rather go in another direction

Remember when there was no argument needed and the Las Vegas Raiders absolutely had to use the No. 6 overall pick in the April 24-26 draft on a quarterback?

That was so January and February.

Then, Geno Smith happened.

The Raiders, of course, went the veteran route and traded for Smith from the Seattle Seahawks this month. Smith, who turns 35 during the season, is expected to be Las Vegas’ starting quarterback for the next few years.

So, that takes away the urgent need of finding a young quarterback.

Yet, there have been reports that Las Vegas could still consider taking a quarterback in the first round.

So, we asked our readers if they thought the Riders should still consider taking the quarterback of the future in the first round or should they concentrate on one of their other many needs with their first round.

The results wasn’t very close. In a poll with 472 votes cast, 283 voters (60 percent) don’t want to see the Raiders take a quarterback with their top pick, while 189 voters (40 percent) think addressing the position would be smart even with the presence of Smith.

If understand why this poll went the way it did and I agree with it. Get the 2025 Raiders better in the first round and then look to the future quarterback in the mid-rounds
