The Miami Dolphins face the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, kicking off the NFL’s Week 2 schedule.
The Miami Dolphins head into Week 2 with an AFC East division rivalry on the schedule as the Buffalo Bills head to Florida. Both teams have a short week to prepare for this game, coming off respective wins last Sunday and having to be back on the field for the Thursday Night Football game this week. Four days is a quick turnaround for the players, who must rest, recover, and prepare for another week of football on a truncated schedule.
The Dolphins are favored in the game by 2.5 points, according to the latest FanDuel sportsbook odds. But what about the other bets out there? What are some of the player prop bets we should be considering for tomorrow night’s game?
Miami’s ground attack is in flux as of Wednesday morning, with head coach Mike McDaniel confirming Raheem Mostert will not play due to an injury, while De’Von Achane may or may not be available as he is also dealing with an injury. FanDuel has removed the Dolphins rushing game from the board until it becomes clear what kind of availability Achane will have.
Ruling out rushing yards as a prop bet forces us to again turn to the passing game for our primary options outside of the game’s line. Here are three props to consider:
Tyreek Hill
Receptions: 6.5
Over: -138 / Under: +106
Last week, Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill had seven receptions on 12 targets. He is clearly the number one receiver on the roster and dominates quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s looks. He had ten games last year where he finished with seven or more receptions, though the Bills held him to just three catches in the first meeting of 2023 (he caught seven passes in the second meeting).
The Dolphins are going to be feeding Hill during this game, especially if the running game is struggling. Miami used a ton of short passes in Week 1 to then open up the deep ball. Expecting several short passes to Hill early in this game could make seven receptions a fairly easy number for him to reach.
Bet: Over.
Tua Tagovailoa
Longest Pass: 40.5 yards
Over: -114 / Under: -114
The Dolphins’ offense is built on the team opening up the deep passing attack, using the speed of Hill and Jaylen Waddle to take off the top of the defense. Last season, Tagovailoa had a completion of at least 41 yards in eight games. This season, he already has two passes over 40 yards, and he had another of 39 yards. The Dolphins are going to throw deep, and the speed of the receivers allows for yards after the catch, even if the ball does not travel 40 yards through the air. Breaking one pass for more than 40.5 yards seems like a strong possibilities.
Bet: Over.
Same Game Parlay
Any time touchdowns from:
Tyreek Hill
De’Von Achane
Josh Allen
James Cook
+1664
FanDuel has this four-leg parlay as a standard option for the game, and rather than building my own parlay this week, I liked this one. The Dolphins and Bills rivalry games typically turns into a shootout. Hill and Achane – assuming he is playing – both scoring for Miami seems likely. Bills quarterback Josh Allen rushing for a touchdown is almost a given, especially when he plays the Dolphins. Cook adding a touchdown seems likely as well. This seems like a really good parlay to consider.
