Last week kicked off the NFL league year and NFL free agency. Our Miami Dolphins made an initial wave of additions in the first couple of days.
On a PQOTD post last week, I asked the following question:
Question Of The Day is: Which new additions to the roster do you believe will have the most significant positive impact on the team and why?
I also put up a poll asking:
Which new addition to the Miami Dolphins roster this week is your favorite?
Below are the results-
- 53% or 127 of you chose James Daniels, guard
- 15% or 35 of you chose Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, wide receiver
- 9% or 21 of you chose Ifeatu Melifonwu, safety
- 7% or 16 of you chose Zach Wilson, quarterback
- 6% or 14 of you chose Larry Borom, guard/tackle
- 5% or 11 of you chose Alexander Mattison, running back
- 4% or 10 of you chose Ashtyn Davis, safety
- 2% or 5 of you chose K.J. Britt, linebacker
Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the PQOTD-
TJO is just finding out.
Sheesh. Just catching up on what Miami has done this offseason. Hate to admit, I’ve never heard of most of these cats… er… Phins.
SlayerNation1 is not a big fan of the stink.
I held my nose and chose Davis. When I look at Safety contributions in 2024 was nearly nil, Davis’ impact plays are impressive, considering His number of opportunities.
Many would argue He benefited from a better Defensive Front. I can’t blame Miami’s Defensive Front/LB for Holland’s low effort and Poyer’s age.
They probably won’t take Emmanwori at 13 in light of these FAs.
In the AFCE/AFC, I would still rather have a SmackDown Safety than a ShutDown Cornerback.
There are no scary
cyberflea likes a player as an upgrade and another for filling a need.
Daniels will be a significant upgrade compared to what the Dolphins had last season at one of the guard positions. And Westbrook-Ikhine is a solid big receiver the Dolphins needed and should play a big role in the offense as the third WR.WRs in the AFC other than Chase.
USMCFinzFreak is more of a fan of the items on the premium shelf.
It’s all subjective when buying from the bargain basement.
RexNEffex68 loves the huge upgrade at guard and still wants a quality corner.
I voted James Daniels because if healthy that’s a huge upgrade. If I picked a few more I also like NWI and both safeties. Davis and Melifonwu can both play. Are they the best safeties in the league no but I think they both do a decent enough job and possible this is a position considered in round 1. Corner is our biggest need right now by far!
Jptapt likes a backup only if the starter is healthy.
Wilson. As long as Tua stays healthy.
SuperG! sees Ifeatu Melifonwu as a chepear upgrade for Holland.
Iffy. Just because he’s 1/4th the price of Holland and he’s probably better. The only question mark is health.
finfanfromsiam loves himself an upgrade at OG.
James Daniels FTW!
AussieFin has also heard the rumor that the OL is not so great.
This is not a hard question- have you heard that the OL needs help?
jjdolfan has a couple of favorites but is weary of the guard coming off an injury.
It’s Wilson, a former number 2 overall pick. 2nd is the receiver. The OL guy is coming off an achilles. Typical Grier. 8 and 9 tops.
Well, that’s our random ten comments. It seems as if the new guard takes the day, but that comes as zero surprise to probably any of us. Like jjdolfan pointed out, Daniels is coming off an injury, so unlike some of Griers’ other past blunders, I hope this guy gets and stays healthy. Thank you, as always, to each of you who took the time to stop down, read our post, and answer our question of the day.
