Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Cowboys free agency: Dallas to sign running back Miles Sanders to one-year deal – Blogging The Boys
Sanders is mostly known for his days with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Results have been rough there, but it is worth mentioning that his two seasons were the beginning of the Bryce Young era and everything was tough for Carolina. Miles is coming off of a 2024 season that saw him only get 55 carries which he turned into 205 yards and 2 touchdowns. For what it’s worth his yards per carry rose in 2024 to 3.7 from 3.3 the year prior, his first with the Panthers.
4 NFL teams who got worse in free agency – SB Nation
No. 4: Dallas Cowboys. This is a problem the Cowboys brought on themselves. We knew Dallas wasn’t going to be a big player in free agency because of their ongoing cap issues, but God is this bad. Dallas went 7-10 this season. Their moves to improve this team? Well, they signed Javonte Williams, and that’s pretty much it. Every player who could improve the team is now gone. Every target who Dallas had interest in has committed elsewhere. All they can do is pick over the dregs like vultures when free agency is almost closed. It was not a good day for the Cowboys.
DeMarcus Lawrence roasted the Cowboys and Micah Parsons clapped back – BGN
The Dallas Cowboys lost their four-time Pro Bowler DeMarcus Lawrence to the Seattle Seahawks in free agency this week, with the DE signing a three-year, $42 million deal. As Lawrence looks to close one chapter and open another, during a recent interview in his new facility, he was sure to note that Dallas will always be his home, but included a brutal parting shot.
New York Giants free agency: CB Adoree’ Jackson flies to Philadelphia Eagles – Big Blue View
The Giants have added two starting 25-year-old players to their secondary in free agency, cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. Those two are the oldest players at the top of the Giants’ secondary depth chart. Because he is going to the Eagles this is sure to cause some gnashing of teeth in the Giants fan base. Jackson and the Giants, though, always seemed destined to part ways this offseason.
D & C – Iggles Blitz
These guys are here for two reasons: depth and competition. Uche is a complicated evaluation. He lacks ideal size at 6-1, 245. Uche was drafted 60th overall in 2020. He was lightly used for his first two years in NE before breaking out in 2022. He had 11.5 sacks, 2 FFs and 14 QB hits. Uche went back to being a role player in 2023. He was a backup for NE last year until midseason when he was traded to the Chiefs. Uche has talent, but he’s only started 4 games in 5 years. The Chiefs kept him inactive for most of the time after acquiring him. Vic Fangio has proven his scheme can get the most out of pass rushers with Uche’s build and skill set. Clint Hurtt and Jeremiah Washburn have to find a way to get Uche to play consistently good football.
How AJ Dillon, Josh Uche, Harrison Bryant, Adoree’ Jackson fit on Eagles — and why Howie Roseman signed them – PHLY
Going into free agency, Bryant was a tight end that I thought made sense for the Eagles. He turns 27 in April and has been buried on depth charts with high-end players since coming into the NFL. Bryant found his way onto the field in Cleveland early in his career because of injuries and had solid production in two-tight end sets. He signed with Las Vegas last year before they drafted Brock Bowers, and the addition of Bowers pushed him down the depth chart. If he’s your No. 1 tight end, you’re not thrilled about that. As a No. 3 (and maybe No. 2) tight end, you can do far worse.
Howie Roseman’s quarterback factory is expanding. With Joshua Uche and friends, the Eagles are playing the odds – Inquirer
The Eagles are rewriting that script this offseason. Due to necessity, mostly. But, due partly to the memories of guys like Zack Braun and Mekhi Becton. We are witnessing the offseason of the Roseman Doctrine. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe, as long as they have talent. We’ll give you a one-year contract and a chance to make something of your career. The latest example comes in the form of the one-year contract that Uche agreed to on Thursday. The No. 60 overall pick in the 2020 draft, Uche looked to be on the verge of stardom at one point. In 2022, he broke out for the Patriots with 11½ sacks and nine tackles for loss in just 374 snaps. Compare that to Bryce Huff’s 2023 season with the Jets: 10 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 480 snaps. Who knows kind of contract Uche would have landed had he hit free agency after that season.
Kenyon Green ‘extremely excited and blessed’ to be an Eagle – PE.com
In the middle of his nearly nine-minute introductory press conference with Philadelphia reporters, new Eagles offensive lineman Kenyon Green simply admitted that “he doesn’t have a lot to say.” Green is “extremely excited and blessed” to be an Eagle and have an opportunity to let his performance speak for him. He got a small taste of what it could be like in Philadelphia during his Top 30 visit with the team prior to the 2022 NFL Draft. “The culture here is just unbelievable,” Green said. “I’m just excited seeing that they’re excited that I’m here. It’s time to work.”
Washington Commanders Free Agency: WR Olamide Zaccheaus signs 1-year deal with the Bears – Hogs Haven
When he came to Washington to reunite with Quinn a year ago, expectations were low based on that unproductive season in Philly. Zaccheaus responded with 45 catches, 506 yards and 3 touchdowns on 64 targets, and he was instrumental in the Commanders offense for much of the season. He also filled in as a punt returner when needed, returning 6 punts with a 10.4 yard average, including one significant return of 24 yards. It seemed likely that he would be back in Washington in 2025, but it seems things did not work out that way, and he now heads to Chicago to try to help another young quarterback develop into a consistent winner. No details of his contract have yet been reported.
Kenny Pickett views himself as a starter, ready to compete for the job – PFT
Russell Wilson left the Browns’ training facility without a deal Thursday. That leaves Kenny Pickett as the only healthy quarterback on the team’s roster. Pickett is fine with competition for the job, understanding the Browns will add a quarterback, but he expects to have a shot at the job. “I do view myself as a starter,” Pickett said Thursday, via NFL.com. “I’m sure they’re going to bring in another veteran and who knows what else, but I’m just excited to be here and compete with whoever. All the quarterback rooms I’ve been in, each room’s been really tight. We all pull for each other. That’s really what it’s all about: getting better together and making the team better. So definitely prepare for whatever situation that may present itself.”
Chiefs sign quarterback Gardner Minshew – Arrowhead Pride
On Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Kansas City Chiefs had agreed to terms with quarterback Gardner Minshew — meaning a new backup behind superstar Patrick Mahomes.
