After signing James Daniels and Larry Borom on Day 1 of free agency, 2021 second-round pick Liam Eichenberg is back in the building. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he’s returning to the Dolphins on a one-year deal.
Eichenberg started 14 games at right guard last season and has appeared in at least 16 games in three of four seasons with the Dolphins. He was penalized nine times and allowed a career-low two quarterback sacks last season, according to PFF.
Miami played Eichenberg at a different position in each of his seasons, starting with 943 snaps at left tackle as a rookie. He slid to left guard when Terron Armstead signed in 2022 and then played 653 snaps at center due to injuries in 2023.
With Daniels expected to play right guard, Eichenberg could return to left guard or settle in as Miami’s top backup due to his availability, versatility, and experience playing in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
