Veteran cornerback leaves young secondary behind
Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who spent the last four seasons with the New York Giants, is reportedly joining the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.
Jackson signed a three-year contract with the Giants in 2021. He re-upped with New York for an additional season near the end of training camp. He played in 14 games last season with five starts.
Jackson, who turns 30 in September, played in 51 games with 41 starts for New York.
Before joining the Giants, Jackson was a first-round pick by the Tennessee Titans and spent four seasons there. Jackson has just four interceptions in 97 career regular season games.
The Giants have added two starting 25-year-old players to their secondary in free agency, cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. Those two are the oldest players at the top of the Giants’ secondary depth chart.
Because he is going to the Eagles this is sure to cause some gnashing of teeth in the Giants fan base. Jackson and the Giants, though, always seemed destined to part ways this offseason.
