One play completely flipped the momentum, and the Dolphins never looked back.
MIAMI GARDENS – As the Miami Dolphins celebrated their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, they immediately understood how close they were to losing and potentially blown out at their home opener.
The Dolphins were not in control of this game at any point on Sunday, but they scratched and clawed out a win. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. 1-0 on the schedule.
When we take a close look at who the top contributors were to the Dolphins victory, the first names you think of are Tyreek Hill with his 130 yards and a touchdown, Jaylen Waddle had 100+ and some big-time plays, or you can even go with Jason Sanders bouncing back with two ice cold field goals after shanking the first one.
There several players that stood out, but there was one player who made the one play that flipped this game from being a potential embarrassment at home to a hard-fought, gritty win, and that player was Jevon Holland.
Jevon Holland single-handedly changed the momentum of this ball game with his effort.

This play is all the evidence I need to justify the award going to the quick-draw man himself. The Jaguars were in control, up ten points heading toward the end of the third quarter and driving. Slowly but surely, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars were breaking the soul of the Dolphins defense and the home fans during this drive.
Driving the offense to the thirteen-yard line, they seemed primed to score and put the game out of reach. Travis Etienne made some moves and had one man to beat to the endzone for his second touchdown of the day until Holland summoned his inner Peanut Tillman and punched that ball out, saving not only a touchdown but the game.
From there, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense scored on the next play and stole all the momentum in a fourteen-point turnaround in two plays. It was crucial, and if you don’t believe me, check out this Baldy Breakdown!

More than a few players made big plays or filled the stat sheet. Calais Campbell turned the clock back five years against his former team. Jaelan Phillips looked like he never left in his first game back, wreaking havoc all game, and De’Von Achane was back to his explosive self.
If I had game balls, I’d toss them all across that locker room like Oprah, but no play or stat meant more to the football game than this touchdown and game-saving strip, so the “Unsung Hero of the Week” against the Jacksonville Jaguars deservedly goes to Jevon Holland.
I’d say to let us know in the comments who you think the “Unsung Hero of the Week” should be this week, but I’m sure most would agree with me. Either way, let us know below who your nomination would be.
