The Philadelphia Eagles have accepted an invitation to visit the White House as Super Bowl LIX champions. A team spokesperson confirmed as much to NBC Sports Philadephia’s John Clark.
There was previously a report that the Eagles weren’t planning on going to the White House. Shortly after that, a conflicting report claimed the Eagles did have interest in attending a trip to Washington D.C. if they were invited. And then President Donald Trump himself said the Eagles were going to be invited to the White House.
Now we know that the invitation was officially extended.
Details about the visit still remain to be seen; Clark notes that the Eagles are still “working on scheduling a date and logistics.”
The Eagles were previously set to visit the White House after winning Super Bowl LII in early June 2018. It didn’t happen, however, with the Eagles essentially being uninvited after only planning to send a small group of representatives to the White House instead of the majority of the team.
