Michael Jordan-obsessed Eagles QB Jalen Hurts spotted having dinner with hero – SI
Jalen Hurts is just 26 years old and hopes this is just the start of a championship run like Jordan had with the Chicago Bulls. Hurts sat down with the now 62-year-old NBA Hall of Famer for dinner that we’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall for. Here’s the new champ with the old one.

In Roob’s Observations: A peek into Jalen Hurts’ insane competitiveness – NBCSP
1. Man, I love that little vignette in the Super Bowl Mic’d Up video the Eagles released with Jalen Hurts showing disappointment at leaving the game with the Eagles up 40-6 midway through the fourth quarter. I don’t know if anything better illustrates what a ferocious competitor Hurts really is. The score was 40-6 and he didn’t want to leave the game. It was 40-6! His teammates were congratulating each other on the sideline, soaking in the moment, celebrating the impending win together. And Hurts was still in killer mode, wanting to run it up on the Chiefs. He wanted to embarrass the team that beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years earlier. He wanted half a hundred. Nick Sirianni has too much respect for football etiquette and for Andy Reid to do that, and as we saw the Chiefs scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes to make the score a little more respectable. All Hurts wanted was to do what Patrick Mahomes was doing and keep trying to score points. Instead of feeling jubilation at leading the Eagles to their second Super Bowl championship in eight years and being on top of the football world, Hurts looked frustrated and disappointed to come out of the game. That’s a guy who doesn’t just want to beat the other team, he wants to destroy them. Humiliate them. That brief video snippet is a real window into Hurts’ killer instinct. You’ve just got to love that mentality.
Myles Garrett to the Eagles dream is dead – BGN
Myles Garrett is NOT going to be traded to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. The door on this tantalizing but always unlikely outcome was slammed shut on Sunday morning with the Cleveland Browns officially signing Garrett to a multi-year contract extension worth $40 million annually with $123 million guaranteed. That’s one serious pay day. The next highest-earning edge rusher on an annual basis is Maxx Crosby, who recently signed to a $35.5 million per year. The next highest-earning edge rusher on a guaranteed basis is Nick Bosa, who signed a deal with $88 million guaranteed.
Browns, Myles Garrett end standoff with huge contract – Dawgs By Nature
All of that for nothing as the Cleveland Browns and DE Myles Garrett. The drama surrounding the former Defensive Player of the Year wanting to be traded ramped up on Saturday with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam refusing to meet with Garrett. Then came a report that Garrett was frustrated by the effort of his teammates last year and the possibility of the star defender sitting out games in 2025.
Ten underrated NFL free agents in position to thrive in 2025 – NFL.com
MEKHI BECTON: The former first-rounder surprised evaluators with his smooth transition to offensive guard for the Super Bowl champs. Becton’s imposing size (6-7, 363 pounds) and explosive power make him an intriguing possibility for a team that wants to bully opponents at the point of attack. While interested teams must determine exactly why Becton’s play improved dramatically in Philadelphia after his struggles at tackle with the Jets from 2020 to 2023 (a time when he was also sidelined by serious knee injuries), it is hard to find monstrous blockers who maul and mash or dance with defenders at the line. Given his impressive tools and talent, Becton could add a dimension to any front line as a super-sized “swing” player with a nasty disposition.
NFL Trade Rumors: Myles Garrett signs new deal; Commanders still interested in Trey Hendrickson – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders are in the market for pass rushers and they’ve been linked to every big name that’s been on the trade block, and some pending free agents. Trading for Myles Garrett seemed like a long-shot, but the possibility made plenty of headlines in Washington and Philadelphia since Garrett declared during Super Bowl week that he was done in Cleveland, and wanted to spend the rest of his career with a winning team. Multiple first round picks were floated as the cost for the future Hall of Famer, but all the trade scenarios ended with this morning’s news.
How the Myles Garrett extension impacts Dallas Cowboys, Micah Parsons – Blogging The Boys
Back in December, Parsons said specifically that he did not need $40M per year. These are all interesting comments and may have been genuine from him, but Parsons has representation who may push for the maximum. $40M per year from a pass rusher or non-quarterback standpoint was merely a hypothetical when Parsons offered it. Now it is literally the market price. The best assumption in our new world is that Parsons is going to clear the deal that Garrett just got and probably by a comfortable margin. Given that he is at the moment set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, obviously a franchise tag in 2026 and even beyond is possible, it also stands to reason that it will happen before the season begins. Will that be soon? Will it come during the summer? Are we looking at another situation akin to Lamb and/or Prescott? Time will tell. The Cowboys did clear about $55M in salary cap space this past week. Maybe it was for this. Maybe it is for something else.
New York Giants free agency: Daniel Jones could still haunt the Giants this offseason – Big Blue View
In a cruel bit of irony, discarded quarterback Daniel Jones could hold the key to who ends up playing the position for the New York Giants in 2025. How’s that? The first big domino in the offseason quarterback market fell on Friday when the Seattle Seahawks traded Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting him with former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll. By most accounts, the Seahawks’ preferred replacement for Smith is Sam Darnold, who is headed to free agency after a career year with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. Darnold and Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak were together with the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. Which brings us back to Jones.
Bowling Green hires Eddie George as head football coach – Hustle Belt
Bowling Green saw a sudden, unexpected vacancy at the head coach position when Scot Loeffler stepped down from the role on Friday, Feb. 28 to become the quarterbacks coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Eddie George inherits a Bowling Green program that has attained bowl eligibility in three-straight seasons, posting a 7-6 record in 2023 and 2024. This will be George’s first FBS coaching role, and he is one of four new MAC head coaches for the 2025 season. His debut is set for Thursday, Aug. 28 when his Falcons host FCS program Lafayette at Doyt Perry Stadium.
Buffalo Bills release Von Miller, opening salary cap space – Buffalo Rumblings
On Sunday morning, reports surfaced that the Buffalo Bills are going to be releasing veteran pass rusher Von Miller. The first of those reports came from Ian Rapoport who said that both sides were open for a future return. The Bills confirmed the news a little later. Miller, who will be 36-years old during the 2025 NFL season, joined the Bills prior to the 2022 season as he was looking to become the first player in history to win a Super Bowl with three different teams. Unfortunately, Miller’s first season in Buffalo was cut short due to a torn ACL that happened on Thanksgiving Day.
NFL’s highest-paid non-QBs, ranked after Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby cash in – SB Nation
Enter Myles Garrett. After requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns, Garrett agreed to a massive contract extension from the team that averages $40 million per season, and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money. That now makes Garrett the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. Here is where Garrett’s and Crosby’s deals stack up, along with the other massive non-QB contracts in the NFL today.
