Seahawks are expected to part with DK Metcalf after they also released Tyler Lockett
The NFC West wide receiver shake up continues on Wednesday, as the Seattle Seahawks are now shopping DK Metcalf on the trade market, according to everyone. Metcalf is entering the final year of a three-season contract he signed in 2022 and probably wants an extension, which is usually what sparks a trade request that is granted, as is the case here.
On the same morning, the Seahawks released Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons with the team.

The NFC West receiver rooms will look much different in 2025.
The Rams are expected to part ways with Cooper Kupp.
The 49ers traded Deebo Samuel.
The Seahawks have released Lockett and will probably trade Metcalf. Though Seattle could keep Metcalf, Ian Rapoport has said that it would be unlikely.
There are also rumblings that the 49ers would have conversations about Brandon Aiyuk. It’s clear that the top receiver in the division, as if we didn’t already know, is Puka Nacua. Consider that a couple of years ago, there was no Nacua, no Marvin Harrison, and no Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Things change quickly at receiver in the NFL.
Would the Rams consider Lockett?
Anything is possible and players do often stay within the division. If Lockett wants to stay on the west coast, L.A. is one of his only options. Lockett doesn’t have much left in the tank, but could be a cheap complementary piece on the outside as a Z receiver.
Metcalf won’t be traded in-division, I don’t think, and he probably won’t be released either. He never had that great of games against the Rams, so to what degree does this really change the rivalry? We will probably find out.
