Who will come out on top to finish off Week 1?
Week 1 has one final game before it is over. The San Francisco 49ers are hosting the New York Jets.
It was a popular Super Bowl prediction last season before Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1. Now we get this quasi “what if?”
The 49ers are coming off a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Brock Purdy played well enough in Kyle Shanahan’s system, and weapons like Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey had big years to help get them that far, along with a pretty good defense. San Francisco may have had a dramatic offseason, but they managed to keep most of their team intact.
The Jets had their own form of dramatics. Last season was a big waste as far as they were concerned. Rodgers is back to pair with one of the best defenses, though. It is a matter of proving that Rodgers is still that guy who once dominated the league now that he is 40. Young guys like Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson help him try and prove that, but this team probably still goes as Rodgers does, ultimately.
