The Eagles will save $2.1M in cap space by releasing the veteran CB with a post-June 1 designation.
In what should be one of the least surprising moves the Eagles make this off-season, the team is releasing veteran CB James Bradberry with a post-June 1 designation.
The #Eagles have informed cornerback James Bradberry he will be released when the new league year starts, per league sources. His agent can speak to other teams in advance.

After the Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean last year, the writing was on the wall for Bradberry, who then got some work at safety in an effort to retain his roster spot. Instead, Bradberry was injured during training camp and went on IR during the final 53-man roster decision-making process. Originally expected to return in 6-8 weeks, he ended up sidelined the whole season.
Despite not returning as an active player in 2024, he still got credit for helping the younger DBs during meetings. And now he’ll leave Philadelphia with a Super Bowl ring.

Bradberry also played an important role during the Eagles Super Bowl parade, keeping a very not-sober Quinyon Mitchell from saying something he’d regret on live television.

The veteran CB struggled in 2023, especially coming off an impressive 2022 performance that earned him second-team All Pro. That season ended with a disappointing Super Bowl loss, and seemed to set up his decline the following year.
Still, Bradberry will be a valuable, experienced addition to a defense that needs it, and the Eagles did him a solid by allowing his reps to start finding his new team sooner rather than later.
