It sounds like Geno Stone won’t be a cap casualty.
The Cincinnati Bengals have plenty of work to do on the defensive side of the football this offseason in both the trenches and secondary.
The defense was incredibly disappointing last season, so the front office brought in Al Golden to take control in hopes of some major changes.
Golden and the staff have been busy recently at the NFL Combine evaluating instant-impact guys who can help turn the ship around on the defensive side of the football.
There, Golden shared some insight on the safety position with guys like Geno Stone, Jordan Battle, and Dax Hill.
The safety position was hard to watch last season with struggles from Stone and Vonn Bell, as well as inconsistent playing time for Jordan Battle.
“Now that Jordan’s got another year under his belt and the veteran side of Geno, I’m excited about it. We’ll see where we go whether we supplement that. There’s a good starting point for us,” Golden said to Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson.
The tandem seemed to find their groove late in the season during the five-game win streak, but there are still concerns surrounding the safety room.
There are concerns for the Bengals secondary but it will be interesting to see how it all shapes out here in a few months.
