The Bengals have dug themselves out of slow starts before.
The Bengals have been here before. They’ve put themselves in a tough situation at the start of the regular season in each of the last two years, and both times, they dug themselves out of it.
So it was no surprise that head coach Zac Taylor was confident in his team’s ability to bounce back from the latest Week 1 loss to the Patriots.
“It’s just frustrating that we didn’t play well enough to win,” Taylor said. “That’s just the biggest frustration, looking at the turnover battle and then looking at tackles. We got to tackle better, and we got to win the turnover battle.”
Zac Taylor is now 1-5 in Week 1 games in his six seasons as the Bengals head coach. The Bengals will try to avoid their fifth 0-2 start in those six seasons when they take on the Chiefs next week in Kansas City.
“You know, the good thing is we have 16 games left to play,” Taylor said. “I feel good about how this team will regroup.”
