Would it be worth taking a flier on former No. 2 overall draft pick
The Las Vegas Raiders may have to get creative as they look for a new quarterback in 2025.
Sure, there’s the likes of Russell Wilson (who clearly has ties to the new Raiders’ staff), Sam Darnold, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields and Jameis Winston available in free agency and Matthew Stafford in a trade.
And there are top draft prospects such as Shedeur Sanders of Colorado and Cam Ward of Miami available.
Yet, there are sure way the Raiders could get to these two players in the draft and none of the big names in free agency are sure things, either.
So, Las Vegas may have to look at other options.
That could bring us to Zach Wilson. There has been speculation this offseason that the Raiders could pursue Wilson on a short-term contract in free agency. Wednesday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal connected Wilson to the Raiders.
Obviously, there’s a long way to go with the @Raiders QB room, but a name that keeps coming up here in Indianapolis, at least in terms of bringing into the mix, is Zach Wilson.

If that’s the case, they would be signing on to give Wilson a chance to compete in training camp or even being a backup.
The hope would be Wilson, who as the No. 3 quarterback in Denver last year and who will turn 26 this year, could grow into the player that made the New York Jets take him with the No. 2 draft pick on a low-risk deal.
If so, great. if not, there wouldn’t be much lost in terms of commitment.
Thoughts on a Raiders-Wilson pairing?
