Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 2/20/25
Rich Eisen listed Matthew Stafford as fifth on his top-10 list for the most influential people around the NFL in regard to this offseason. I watched this video thinking Stafford may make the cut and Eisen did not disappoint.
You can watch the video below.
To be clear, Stafford is influential. This list is referring to how impactful Stafford and any movement of Stafford would be for this upcoming offseason. I get the idea and I don’t disagree. There may not be breaking news about Matthew this week, but everyone wants to know what the Los Angeles Rams and him are doing.
Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times, please comment on whatever you want and have a great Thursday as we march towards Friday!
NFL Confidential: Reunion most likely outcome for Rams, Matthew Stafford (foxsports.com)
“With the Rams making former All-Pro wideout Cooper Kupp available via trade, their starting quarterback will be, in many ways, the key domino to fall this offseason — and certainly in the NFC. While uncertainty remains surrounding Matthew Stafford’s future with the team, league sources are adamant that coach Sean McVay and the organization want to keep the 37-year-old Super Bowl champion. Remember, trading Stafford ensures a $45.3 million dead cap hit in 2025 and nearly $23 million in 2026. Stafford, who is scheduled to make under $30 million this upcoming season, is seeking a new contract with future guarantees that will pay him closer to the league’s top 10 quarterbacks.”

Rams’ Kyren Williams met his goal — finish the 2024 season healthy (espn.com)
“Williams was a “steady, calming presence” for the Rams, according to offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. With injuries to their top two receivers in Weeks 1 and 2, the Rams offense and quarterback Matthew Stafford no doubt leaned on their star running back in 2024. Williams ranked seventh in the NFL with 1,299 rushing yards in 16 games.
“He’s meant so much,” McVay said as the Rams prepared for their first playoff game. “He has such a great energy about himself. He enjoys the competition. He loves to do challenging things and the resilience that he shows is a real reflection of his mental and physical toughness. That embodies a lot of the things that we want to be about.”
Helluva year for the rookie safety out of Miami!

Random Ramsdom Fandom: Keandre Lambert-Smith Scouting Report (By JeffinBranson on Feb 17, 2025)
“I don’t want to brag….well, not too much….but I was very excited about a receiver named Puka Nacua a few years ago, and when the Rams drafted him, I couldn’t believe how late in the draft they got him. I have recently discovered another receiver I am very excited about, and I believe he will be available as late as round 6.I am hoping the Rams trade down and draft 2 WRs in this draft, because there are a lot of them, many over 6 feet tall and many with sub 4.40 speed. I am not saying this guy will be anything like Nacus…in fact, there are no similarities…but he could sure give the Rams a deep threat, which in my opinion, is what they need the most on offense.Keandre Lambert-Smith played at Auburn, and I love drafting from SEC schools. Those guys have to play Florida, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Kentucky, and Tennessee every year, so you are getting kids with a lot of big-game experience against top college teams. Lambert-Smith runs a 4.35 40, is 6’1” 190, and has amazing hands, at least in the games I saw. In one of these highlights he makes a one handed catch on a deep sideline route. The scouting report I read says he only has experience from the right side, which I will completely ignore. The Rams run a lot of motion, and I don’t think it makes a difference where the guy starts from, as long as he gets open. On these highlights, he looks basically uncoverable, and he can jump right off the planet. Notice some of those touchdown catches. He jumps OVER a defender on more than one occasion.Anyway, let me know what you think. I would love to see this guy get a shot at making our roster.”
