ESPN analyst predicts back-to-back MVPs for Bills’ Josh Allen
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was recognized for his excellence in 2024 by being named NFL MVP at NFL Honors for the first time in his seven-year career.
He was the first QB in Bills history to take home the award in the Super Bowl era, and just the third Bills player overall to be named MVP in the Super Bowl era,
Allen has given Bills fans something to look forward to each game week during football season, and now he and the fans both have something that will remind them of a special 2024 season. Although it wasn’t a Super Bowl, it was still a reason to celebrate.
According to ESPN NFL analyst Aaron Schatz, there will be another one to celebrate next year. When asked ‘Who’s your pick for next season’s MVP?’, Schatz picked Allen to do it again.
If Allen were to receive another MVP award following the 2025 season, he would join some elite company. Only four players in the Super Bowl era have won the award in back-to-back years: Joe Montana (’89-’90), Brett Favre (’95-’97), Peyton Manning (’03-’04, ’08-’09), and Aaron Rodgers (’20-’21).
Surprisingly, among 13 ESPN analysts, Schatz was the only one to predict Allen as next year’s winner. The most common picks were Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson came close to winning MVP this year, but Allen edged him out. Allen received just four more first-place votes for MVP than Jackson, the closest finish for MVP voting since Peyton Manning and Steve McNair split the award as Co-MVPs in 2003.
Allen’s efficient play at QB made the Bills overachieve as a team in 2024 in the eyes of many, which led to him receiving the award.
Here is why Schatz has Allen bringing home the award again next year:
Schatz: Josh Allen, QB, Bills. There’s nothing wrong with going with the best quarterback in the league, but who is that at this point? Mahomes will probably sail through another regular season at 90% peak efficiency, which leaves us with Allen, Jackson and Burrow. Since I’m picking the Bills to go to the Super Bowl, Allen would likely be coming off a great season, so let’s predict a second straight trophy for him.
