The money continues to flow
The exploding NFL salary cap will take a larger than projected jump for a second straight year, according to a report from ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
The cap is expected to be between $277.5 and $281.5 million, per Graziano. It was $255.4 million in 2024, and was projected to be $272.5 million. Once the number is finalized, the cap will have increased by more than $50 million over the past two seasons.
In it’s updated salary cap table, Over the Cap split the difference and projected the cap at $279.5 million for the 2025 season. Using that number, the Giants are currently expected to have $48.39 million in cap space. That would be 14th-most in the league, basically middle of the pack.
We have talked extensively about salary cap philosophy at Big Blue View recently, with the Giants being one of only two teams that has no player contracts that include void years. The fast-rising cap is one of the arguments in favor of pushing money into future years when the cap should continue to rise.
